Just thought I would share my glee 🙂 damn cable...11k/sec for q3a-demo and 500+ ping at 2 in the afternoon...man that was the last straw.

you'll be back... DSL can't hold a candle to Cable.

Re-read this thread in 2 months when you're still waiting for your DSL install to come..
 
I wish I could have both. My pings with cable get as bad as 56k at night sometimes. DSL on the other hand would probably be much better for pings alone, but not for downloads.. 🙂
 
Guys, you do know service varies froma area to area. And this case his cable totaly sucks a$s. Enjoy your DSL nate, I hope it is better then that crappy cable connection you have.


Give him a break people!:| His cable service just plain blows. Sure it would be nice to have 400KB downloads, but he cant get that. So if the service is better with dsl, I'd say enjoy!
 
One question tho... have you had a tech out to check your lines? If you're getting high pings and lag, it could be a returns problem. Too much interference on the upstream can definitely cause connectivity issues. How's your Signal/Noise ratio? Have you tried a tracert to the sites you get 500 pings? Where's the time increase.. is it on an internal router, or a backbone provider? If it's backbone.. yer gonna be SOL with DSL too!
 
UT what are you talking about?? 1.5 is fine...i had 400K sec downloads with cable but then the att folks decided to overbook the 3 t3's in my area...and then it all went downhill.

I said cable. It is for cable. ADSL is maxed out at 1.5mbps also, but most DOCSIS cable is maxed at 1.5mpbs also. I sure in hell know mine is.
 
cable is cpped. at 1.5 as well..anyways i will have cable and dsl in CS so screw you UT ha! I will have this piss ass connection til i get dsl which will be 2-6 weeks.

I said mine was, never said all. And anyways, cable sucks in upload speed. I'll take a 1.5mbps SDSL over cable anyday.

I really could care less how you feel but come on, if you're going to insult someone for their INTELLIGENCE, the last thing you should do is make mistakes like this 😉


Oh and one more thing, who's cable is maxed at 1.5mbps downstream? I've yet to meet anyone with cable capped like that.
