It's getting tough to buy ammo these days because so many right-wingers are going out and buying guns out of reform fear. Basically people who start threads like this one assume that the 2nd ammendment right will be taken away.

I'm just waiting for a year or so to pass so they'll get over it and closet their guns. 9mm ammo is really difficult to find.

I have a friend (who scares the crap out of me that he has 2 pistols, a ccw, and an m4... he isn't a stable personality) who has 4000 rounds for his m4....

Shoot me a PM. I have AK47s for $50 a pop. Got hundreds of them.

Do you have kid sizes? My 6 year old is horribly under armed.

Yep... this gives Obama the "ammo" he needs to reinstate the assault weapons ban. Sure, the NRA will still fight it, but headlines like those above are all Obama needs to get the public support to pass the ban.

Maybe in that state at most. Did other countries reform their gun laws b/c of Columbine? It's sensationalism at its finest to think that Obama will immediately change gun laws b/c of these incidents.
No but most other countries arent as reactionary as we are.

seriously, im curious what you (those with guns) use guns for?
why should i get a gun?
to rob a bank? to kill my family? to kill my colleagues? to bust a cap every time someone cuts in front?
the only time i see guns being used for the good of mankind is on 24 or Terminator. i havent seen a terrorist in real life nor aware of any SkyNet activities in the hood. i live in southwest philly too! no lie.

Wow, you really have no clue.

If some crazy person is on a rampage like the guy in Alabama and wants to kill me I want to be prepared to make sure that doesn't happen.

Yea, right. It's always about 'preparation'. When you get shot in the back, I'm sure you'll be prepared.

My thoughts exactly.

All the libs need are a few tragedies and it shifts the tide toward stiffer gun control.
Once in place, it will take a real strong conservative backlash to back it out.

5 years from now, it will illegal to own an SKS, Mini-14, AK-47, AR-15, etc.

You seem to be cluelessly unaware that there have indeed been incidents were a law-abiding citizen carrying a sidearm and carry permit has stepped in to alleviate the situation. I remember one situation in particular down in east Texas where some dude opened up outside a courthouses and killed a few people. A citizen who was carrying was able to stop further rampage for this murder, however he died in the process of saving the lives of others.

So, yes it is about preparation jackass.

Obama is probably the most anti-gun president we've had, that's no secret. But he's also not dumb enough to commit political suicide. I'm sure he'd sign the AWB: Redux if it showed up on his desk, but I highly doubt he will do anything to bring it about.

Would you rather be prepared for a guy running down the street firing wildly or content that you're going to "get shot in the back" anyway?

Blow me tough guy. You pointed out one situation (with no links), and that situation ended with the death of the 'hero'.

Read the number of shooting recently in this article:

and then read about how this shooter toyed with a few cops before being taken down:

I love how you all talk so tough, when NONE of you have EVER been in a situation like this. Going up against someone with nothing to lose, prepared to not only kill you, but everyone else around you and ultimately themselves. Armed with automatic weapons, and you think your little handgun is going to stop them? With your few minutes of shooting at paper targets at the local range? Ohhhh, I feel safe now! The cops have a hard time taking these guys down, yet you think you're man enough to do it?

Honestly, I'm way more worried about the endless number of folks who pack heat 'to be prepared' than those who carry out shooting sprees. Everyone thinks they're Rambo.

Umm, it's on whitehouse.gov as a stated position - To reinstate the AWB and make it permanent.

It's one of his freaking goals.

Umm, I know that, jackass. Hence why I have no doubt he'll sign it if brought to his desk.

However, there's a reason Obama never talks about it or pushes for it, at least in public.

I'd run away from a guy firing wildly, running down the street. I have ZERO desire to get into a shootout against a guy brandishing an assault rifle.

I get the false sense of security carrying a gun offers. Makes you feel tough, makes you feel 'safe'. It's just that we don't live in the Wild Wild West. There aren't shootouts on every corner. Cops are 'prepared' to act. Citizens are not. Well, most citizens are not. There are plenty out there who would absolutely love to use their concealed guns on other folks. I worry about them more than anything else.

OK so show the evidence that the people legally carrying guns are more of a threat to society.

Back up your talk internet tough-guy.

Hmm, lets see. I use mine to hunt. A single deer will net you a lot of meat.
I use the .17 hm2 for rabbit's and beavers
.223 is good on coyotes.
The rest of them are for shooting old computer parts and other junk for fun.

There is so much fail in your post, I'm not sure where to begin.

First, I can't even recall the last time someone has be found running down the street with an assault rifle. It just doesn't happen. I'm guessing you simply have zero comprehension as to what actually constitutes an assault rifle.

Second, there have been multiple studies that have shown that, in the very least, cops are no more capable with their firearms than your average shooter. In fact, your average shooter is usually more qualified. Sure, cops are generally more prepared overall when it comes to handling certain situations, but you don't always have the luxury of waiting on the police to arrive.

Third, there is a big difference between wanting to use a gun and wanting to be prepared to use a gun. I contend that nearly everyone that carries falls into the latter category.

chrisg22, u carry a gun with u every day? wow

i rather be shot in the back unprepared than live a life being paranoid that someone's about to pop me in the back. but thats just me.

the idea that we should pack heat just cause the bad dudes are doesnt make any sense. this isnt an arms race. would u feel a lot safer if everyone has their stash of nukes?

You would rather die than carry a gun? Fair enough. You should be allowed to make such a choice.

However, I should have the ability to make the same choice, and since I actually value my life, I will do what I can to reasonably protect it. It takes me roughly 2 seconds each day to holster my handgun and 1 second to unholster it at night. Hardly an inconvenience.

I hope you don't keep any fire extinguishers at home. It just doesn't make any sense to be that paranoid about fire.
