I'm just not all that elated at the choices.

Thinking about that, it could even arise from being jaded by politics or frustrated by it.

Sanders has been a total gentleman, but for the discord recently over his campaign's jabs at Clinton.

But Sanders only has a handle on some of the big problems, and not the solutions.

There is a multi-level dialog occurring in all elections.

What are the problems?

What are the priorities?

What are the solutions?

If an opposition ignored mention of some "problems" at first, they insert some idea of them in their rhetoric later after sticking their wet finger into the political wind. This may not, however, be an earnest attempt to discuss either the other side's problem-perceptions or solutions for them.

So I've given money to Sanders so far.

I'll be relieved if Hillary gets the nomination, and I still have a little money left . . . too . . .

It's also true, as someone said, that there is great variety among Trump supporters. I've listened to them in focus groups. I've been impressed with the nuttiness of many, but others just seem to be grasping at a non-Establishment straw. I don't think . . . they're ponderous thinkers. [heh. But what do I know? Only what I've heard and seen.]

To tell the truth, I don't think Trump is a ponderous Thinker. Either he's skewing his language for the lowest common denominator of his base, or he seems just a bit loose with the King's English. He has a contempt for the process and its discipline; he doesn't prepare for debates or stump speeches.

I still don't want that asshole anywhere near the White House. Go build another casino, Donnie!

I've got friends who are Mexicans, who are voting for Trump. You are assuming what the democrats want you to assume, which is not true.

I assume you mean Mexican Americans, since Mexicans (or any citizens of any other country) cannot vote in the U.S.

Oh, I'm not saying there isn't the occasional person making the comment, but that certainly isn't what the dialogue revolves around. The reason people say republicans shouldn't vote for Trump in the primary is because he's bat shit crazy. People shouldn't vote for Trump in the primary because they're afraid he might get elected president. The idea that he is unelectable in the general has certainly not been a major point up until now. On the other hand, everything about Sanders seems centered on his electability in the general.

So, the OP believes Trump will win because 50% of the population hates Clinton, while ignoring that 80% of the population hates Trump, because that won't be a factor in states that are 55% Republican, 45% Democrat. (Or, perhaps 57% Republican, 42% Democrat, such as Texas). Polling appears to indicate that if the election were today, Texas, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio would be too close to call.

Let that sink in for a moment. Romney won Texas by over 15% of the popular vote in Texas, and now, it would be too close to call between Clinton and Trump. Newsflash: Romney lost to Obama, Trump vs Clinton would be an even bigger loss.

You must first determine that a candidate is not batshit crazy before addressing electability because overtly batshit crazy people have no electability, certainly not to be President.

Trump hasn't passed that hurdle, obviously. See how that works? His is a peculiar flavor of crazy, no doubt, but it's still crazy.

Nobody with a lick of sense fears Trump being President because he can't possibly get that far. Yeh, there's a sucker born every minute but that doesn't make them a majority.

So let's see, who hasn't Trump offended? Oh right the crazy old white people. So that's about 35% of the vote, plus or minus 5% so 40% max. Don't matter if it is Hillary or Bernie, Trump is going to lose.

Now if it was Triumph... that dog would get my vote!

Then we'll just disagree, that's all. I'm not betting on the white vote, I'm betting on the inclusive vote. Why does race have to be a part of everything? Can people just vote for what they believe in without race having to be a factor? It's not right to think that people are going to vote a certain way or believe in certain things, or not, just because of their ethnicity. That kind of thinking is divisive.

Because Trump isn't about being inclusive? Ask the Muslim community how inclusive the republican party is to them, before 9/11 they were a pretty solid R voting block. Then years of being shit on by the right means that won't happen again for years. Trump does shit like re-tweeting a white supremacist, oddly enough that doesn't really bring other minorities to his side.
Its not like people are pre-programmed to vote a particular way based on their skin color, there are plenty of black evangelicals who would vote republican if just maybe the republicans could rein in being racist pricks for about a decade.

And yet Trump is rated the most likely to win the republican nomination. So if this is the case, how is Sanders' electability any concern? Are people afraid a third party will win the general election?

I've got friends who are Mexicans, who are voting for Trump. You are assuming what the democrats want you to assume, which is not true. Trump's supporters are actually some of the most diverse of all the candidates. I think a lot of you guys are gonna be wrong this time around, just like many of you were shocked when the republicans won the mid terms.

I know conservatives have become immune to indisputable facts having been wrapped in the conservative media reality bubble for so long, but are you seriously so blind to suggest anyone believe the bullshit you just posted here? One need only use their own two eyes at any Trump rally to see how FOS this statement is. I have actually yet to see a single non-white face among the crowds in any of the pictures from Trump campaign events.

Keep the faith though. Reality will slap you in the face once again come November if Trump makes it that far.

To be fair I have seen a couple of African-Americans @ one rally.

And now the Pope implies Donald is not a christian...
Is that a GOOD thing or a BAD thing? This can be taken both ways ya know.

If I were Donald I'd respond, "SURE I'M NOT AN "ORGANIZED RELIGION, PASS THE DONATION PLATE, DRESS AS IF YOU WERE SOME KING, LIVE IN A PALACE LINED WITH GOLD AND JEWELS... CHRISTIAN. GOD IS NOT IN MY WEALTH, GOD IS IN MY HEART."

THAT would put this Pope in his hypocritical place....
And speaking as Donald i would add, "JUDGE NOT LEAST YE BE JUDGED. Has this guy even read the Bible?"
Signed Donald Trump

(Would start a new thread over this but, whats the point? We're talking about THE POPE and DONALD TRUMP. One in the same)

PS.
I want to know... and which powerful republican put up the $$$ to buy off the Pope ????
THAT is the real news here....
Just how much did this Popeie poopie statement cost someone ?
And whats next? The Pope on TV pushing Cheerios and fried chicken ?

The argument against the pope doesn't fly. He actually lives like a priest, not as a pope.. the older pope lives like a pope.

I think it hurts Trump a bit.. maybe 5 points? The bigger question is who gets the 5 points. I don't think it makes a difference at this point since Trump dropping from 38 to 33 is hardly significant.

I was amazed that this did not show-up in a separate thread. As much as I despise Trump, and as much as I like this pope, he has no business commenting specifically about an individual candidate like that.

That's what I thought, it's a serious gaffe on his part, imo.

Why not? He has every right to criticize Trump. Also Trump pretending to be Christian is hilarious and I can't believe rightwingers are stupid enough to believe it.

Nope, not up to the Pope to judge that. Not cool, cool Pope.

Uhh-Wah!

What kind of good Christian has a history of repeated infidelities & a string of trophy wives?

What kind of Christian expands their fortune speculating in real estate, fleecing investors while peddling gambling & liquor, not to mention the xenophobic hatred?

Well that's entirely up to Jesus. You're getting pretty close to the same shade of bullshit used to question Obama's religion.

Doesn't the Bible say that only God can judge who is a True Believer™ or not? Does the Catholic version omit that and imbue the pope with that ability as well?

Also, never knew Vatican City was surrounded by walls until now. Learn something every day. :awe:

I'm just telling you what the Fundies would be raving about had Donald declared himself to be a Democrat. But now that he's a Republican they can easily forgive any sin he might commit. Like he said, he could shoot somebody & they'd still believe.

What does that tell you?
