No, of course you didn't.

And everyone else, please tell me I'm not the only one who read that with a proper British accent in my head.

I'm sorry I didn't slap him about the face with a white glove and challange him to a duel. :'(

I bet it would have made your day. :awe:

I have lived in my house for years and I don't know the name of any of my neighbors, and no problems or contact from any of them either. I prefer it that way.

For those of you espousing the greatness of country living in terms of lack of asswipe neighbours...

My sis had a 50 acre lot. Couldn't see any neighbors. They found hunters on their land hunting with rifles. I'd say that's 100X worse than dog crap on the walkway.

Then she should post it as no trespassing and no hunting. If her land borders public hunting land and there is no fence or postings, it can be easy to get disoriented.

Hunting with rifles in an of itself is not a bad thing in any way, but hunting on private property without permission is.

Pompous pricks started the historical district after we bought our house. Our house was sucked in as part of a multi block area. State law, 🙄, gives them 100% say so on what you do the outside. Fences, paint, shutters, windows, etc. The only recourse if you don't agree is to sue them...good luck with that. Our house is just old not historic.

Anyway, the wife wanted a picket fence across the front. I put a wooden one up over the weekend sans paint. Monday morning, we got 4 calls and a visit from their own police man telling me that if I touched the fence again without a permit, it was a $400 fine or 30 days in jail.😡

They wanted an application, pictures of similar fences, etc. Had to be turned in 2 weeks prior to the next meeting or else wait until the next month. Of course, I was within 2 weeks of the next meeting so I said eff it. I won't turn in the application or touch the fence.:colbert: So for a couple of months, they called about the application..."I'm working on it."😉 I called the city manager, regularly, bitching about them. Told him I was planning on all kinds of ridiculous crap, toilet bowl birdbaths and the like. Poor guy.

It still would be a stalemate except that the wife did the legwork and went to the meeting that lasted all of 20 seconds. "Approved, have a nice day." Assholes.

The next time was the driveway. Once again, they have 100% say. "It's gravel, you have to leave it gravel." Except it turns out that my drive is completely on the state right of way. Got in touch with the state DOT and they gave me a permit.:awe:

Guess I'm actually 3-0. We needed new windows. They would only approve a high $$ wooden window....that I'd get to keep painting. Ordered vinyl replacements, installed them from inside the house. 10' away, you can't tell the difference.

thumbs up on this story and OPs!

The area doesn't border on public hunting land, and hunting in that entire area is illegal. They just do it anyway because they think they can get away with it, since people don't patrol their 30-75 acre lots.

I remembered another one. I own a condo that I rent out to a tenant. The building containing my unit has three other units in it and the front entrances all share one common porch. The occupants of all 4 units must pass through this porch to enter their units.

I dont see my property much as I live out of state and visit it a few times a year for inspections, repairs, maintenance etc... One of the unit owners/occupants was using the common area front porch as a repository for bikes, baby strollers, trash they had not taken out to the dumpster and other assorted shit. I dont live here and dont really consider these people my neighbors per se (and have never met them) so I left a note on the stroller asking them to not use the front porch as a garbage dump and reminding this is a common area.

2 months later I returned to the unit to finish up some upgrades to the kitchen when I noticed the shit was still on the front porch. While outside, I saw an owner of another building who I knew back when I lived there and asked him if these people regularly pile their garbage in the common area. He confirmed the ever-present pile of crap, confirmed who it belonged to and told me he had unsuccessfully asked them in the past to get them to remove it.

So I took some pictures and sent them to the HOA office as part of my complaint. Fast forward to another month later, I returned to the unit after successsfully renting it. This visit was to turn it over to my new tenant. The shit was gone and cleaned up but there was a nasty-gram slipped under my front door signed by all 3 of my neighbors that said they were all pissed off at me.

Apparently, they all had an agreement with the shit hoarding neighbor to look the other way and not report it to HOA. Guy had a new baby with no space too store the stroller, bikes etc... I dont understand this because I know the size of his apartment and there is plenty of space along with a separate storage area. Pissed off claiming that I should have spoken to them before involving the association. I did leave a note but was ignored. Im an out of state landlord who is not always present to take part in these side deals with one another so how would I have known? Even if i were present, I still would not have agreed to letting the front porch turn into a garbage heap and look bad when showing it to potential tenants.

My new tenant is a cool guy and tells me his new neighbors shit-talk me to him. I told them the whole story and he agrees with me. He pays me alot of $$ for rent and is glad the place doesnt look like section 8 projects.

Then she should post it, and if they keep doing it she should take up hunting herself. The most dangerous game.

If you have a problem neighbor with a nice lawn, you can freeze some roundup in ice cube trays then at night toss them all on his lawn in various spots unseen.

I used to work for my local municipality, and the 911 center, as an IT guy.

The crap-ass renters I had next door for a while, really hated that the cops would chat me up if I was outside, after they were finished dealing with the issues next door.

it was mostly domestics with a family for grown ups (mom and 3 kids over 20, and a 12 year old) in a 700 sq ft place with 2 chiuaua's and a cat.

all the classic white trash prorblems(loud at all hours of day, since no one was working much, especially week nights. the pets were off leash a lot and pooped all over, and weren't generally friendly, lotta barking), including one of the daughter banging a pot dealer, who would deal from the driveway. I was kind enough to let the vice guys park their van in my driveway whenever, just to be neighborly

HAHAHAHA of man

Heritage designation is the kiss of death for a private home IMO.

Some homeowners think it's cool, but I think it's horrible.

A very large portion of our downtown area is heritage. The homeowners down there take pride in the history of their homes and keep them up much better than in the non heritage areas. These houses are large older style homes and many of them have been turned into multi unit apartments. This area surrounds the local college and its a very interesting mix of young and old. It really works out well for everyone.

good on you for getting putting your shitty neighbor in his place, OP. Bullies like him need a tune up whenever possible IMO.
My neighbor problem is not solvable. I like them, but they should never ever be allowed to get a dog, ever. Not ever! NONE!
They try to control their hounds but just give up. They have huge my excellent compatriot hounds with no jobs, no discipline and still have their cojones. Dogs like that need a job, need worked, need discipline. Don't need cojones.
They bark at anything. A leaf falls? BRooorrrroooooooo! Sounds like 10 friking dogs.

I'll let ATOT judge if I'm the shitty neighbor in my neighborhood.

I park my 1993 impreza track car with mismatched body panels in the street right in front of my house. My driveway is narrow so I can't get in/out of the garage if it is on my driveway. Hopefully I make up for it by walking my dog twice a day and letting it shit on people's lawns. I pick it up, but I won't pick up other dog/cat shit that my dog tries to eat. Pee? Well, I just let the dog pee on the grass, but will avoid houses where I see kids play. I tend to walk in the morning and at night, so I often catch people who leave their garages open or car lights on and let whoever is home know. Apparently someone ringing your doorbell at 11pm at night gets people kind of suspicious. I've had a few who never answered their door, but I hear the garage closing as I walk away. Fuck them. Everyone else thanked me.

I maintain strict policy of not knowing my neighbors and keeping to my self. I'll chat cordially about the weather and shit, but I refuse to get involved with them. Always ends up being annoying if they want to chat you up about some other neighbor they hate or are nosy with your shit.

I'm tolerant with my neighbors dumbass shit in the hopes they are tolerant with mine. I've never had major problems, but currently 1 of them will do annoying little shit like close my back gate if it's open or roll my trash can up if not closed/taken-up soon enough for their liking. Please note that they are not friendly and have complained when I take my trash out the curb a day early and shit. They also turn up their bassy Columbian tuba music during weekdays @ like 7 AM somedays.

On the other side is a younger couple. They will do shit like weed whack my yard after I plant grass seed. They don't do it to be nice, but because they can't tell who's yard is who's. It's a townhouse FFS.

Basically, surrounded by retards, but they keep to themselves for the most part. Thank jeebus.

You would be fine with me. Don't care about clunkers. It's a free country. 11 PM is pretty late IMO, not for me, but I would assume for others.

Some people prefer to be left alone. That doesn't make them assholes.

Also, picking up your dog's shit doesn't make you a good neighbor. It's just decent and likely required by law.

Cheers 🙂

I've got the opposite situation. We know and talk to 3 out of 5 bordering neighbors. Do projects together. They roofed my house with me, and I did the same. One has a fabulous wood shop I use. The other has a lift in his shop ( which I cleared the property, moved piping, and graded for) that I use. I bring the big equipment home and ask them if there is anything they need done.

I bet you are 50+ and live in a rural predominantly white religious area. Am I right? Amish?
