Get off my ass when I'm in the slow lane on the freeway!

On my bike I cruise more or less around the speed limit. As long as I'm not under I don't feel bad. People don't seem to mind.

Usually there's a lower and upper speed limit. i.e. 40/65. Why people feel the need to drive at the maximum speed is beyond me. If I want to go 45 its within my right to do so. The bigger number is just the maximum speed you can legally go, but anywhere between the range should be fine also.

Why do people feel the need to rush up on me in the slow lane? I've got cruise control at sixty five, I've got the window down, I've got the music up and a smile on my face, I'm not going to accelerate just because you started tailgating.
I've never understood this either. I keep the cruise control on when people tailgate me. Doing a brake test (aka slamming on the brakes to cause an accident) is silly and speeding up only encourages them to do that to other people. Keep going a constant speed and let them tailgate 😀

It's also fun to tailgate people. It's usually old people who start tapping their brakes if you're within 20 car lengths. Get a bit closer and watch them completely freak out. I remember a 3 lane road where one guy was driving brutally slow. There are no other cars around for miles. I tailgated him for about 10 minutes straight :awe:

Why are you paying attention to traffic behind you? Perhaps the other driver enjoys getting on your ass?

You're supposed to be aware of what is going on in front of you, to the sides and behind you while driving. It's called being aware of your surroundings and it's part of defensive driving 101.

To the OP, perhaps they just don't realize they are following too close. I doubt it is intentional...just stupidity. I hate it when people tailgate too. Try slowing down a bit and see if they eventually go around you.

Why do you care if I'm on your ass?! I'll be all over your ass if I want to! Just, like, smothering your ass, ok?

One a two lane road if someone tailgates me, I like to slow down even more to make them pass me, then when they do I speed up so they can't, it puts them in panic mode very quickly, especially if another car is coming.

If i'm in a multiple lan road and someone rides my ass, it's game on. I'll let them pass, then I'll speed up and cut them off to piss them off. I hope one day someone hits me or has the balls to pull over.... I fucking hate stupid drivers, so I can combat them with even stupider (i know its not a word, eat shit) driving.

I know that doesnt make sense, but hey, guess what? I don't make sense.

Makes perfect sense to me. You're a complete dickwad.

A lot of people use the one in front of them as their speed gage.

If you are travelling at a certain speed, they will come up to a distance that they feel comfortable at and just pace you.

You are talking about driving in Utah, come on out and try some of the Hudson River Crossings almost any time of the day (god forbid at rush hour) if you want to see crazy. Not mindless, just aggressive as all getout.

The guys that cut back and forth (creating traffic slowdown, ironically, because of "turbulent flow") and end up 15 seconds ahead of you when they finally pull off.

The Bobbits that will jump into your lane at the traffic light because you are timing it to hit it, still moving, when it turns green (starting at 20mph saves gas, and leave the others just standing a the "line").

It is not as much as a bother for me now with an automatic transmission, but trying to get a driving "flow" with a manual where you use it instead of brakes and try to keep from being forced to shift can ba maddening when everyone else is playing some sort of real-life version of Bump-'n-Jump.

On a highway with 1 lane in each direction, slowing down a little bit will help me go around you. A lot.
Toyota Corolla gear 2 ends at 68mph. That means if you're going 65, as soon as I start going around it drops down to third gear at around 4k rpm, I'm way outside of the max power rpm range, and I can't pass you. If you're going 60mph, I can pass in half the time, half the distance.

I do this a lot. It protects me a little bit against speed traps where police are pointing the radar at the front of the car (radar traps looking at the back of the car are easy to dodge because there's always a black truck illegally parked on the side of the road). If the speed limit is 60mph and the guy in front of me is going 80, I'll go 80 with him. If he turns off, I'll go back to the speed limit.

If they're from Quebec or Mass they'll do this and then they'll cut back in 6 inches from your car with no signal. Well, I guess there is a form of a signal in that they have a Mass or Quebec license plate and when you see it you know what is going to happen.

Another favorite is pulling up to a stoplight, the first three cars can be in the same lane leading up to it, but they'll spread out and each take their own empty lane. Then they all take off the same speed, and 3 miles down the road they finally spread out a car length and fall back into the same line they were in.

There actually might be a method to this particular madness. There are a lot of lights I go through where I wonder why they even bothered turning green at all if its rotation was going to be so short. Only 2 cars seem to be able to get under. Why they are programmed like this is beyond me but if there are multiple lanes I'm better off getting under the light and figuring it out later.

I see, so some one tail gates you so you force a situation where they will pass and try to kill them and some other completely unrelated person or family by forcing a head on collision. You are right on the last point at least.

that's only appropriate of them if he sends out his senator craig's signal by repeatedly tapping on his brakes and lighting up his tail.

I am only a dickwad to people who have no respect for others. It drives me absolutely fucking nuts how so many people have so little respect for anyone else.

No one is curtious anymore, there is no need to ride someones ass, not say thank you when I hold the door open, not move over a lane when someone is entering the highway.

And another thing, is it that fucking hard to stop playing your stupid flash games on the computer when someone else is giving a speech? Or how about people that like to use foul fucking language when others' kids are around.

I become a dickwad when other people refuse to have some manners or not be respectful of others. It's not fucking hard. That's what pisses me off the most about this country now, no one has any fucking respect or manners.

It's not about morals or religion, I'm an atheist, it's about just having a bit of respect or decency, which people just don't have any more.

So yeah, be respectul and not a wise and beautiful woman and I'm cool. But when people don't have manners or aren't respectful, then I'll unleash my fucking wrath.

Maybe it was the military that made me this way. I don't know. But fuck!

/rant.

I am someone who likes to speed, but absolutely hates tailgaiting. One instance, I was on a 2 lane street heading up hill late one evening. It was dark, so headlights were a must, and the damned Ford F350 was on my ass with his lights glaring right through my back window. I typically accelerate quicker than most, so I wasn't lolly-gagging that would cause him to do that, but he did anyway. And with people in front of me, and him on my ass, I said... fuck it. Heading up hill I let off the gas, lighting touched the brakes to get some brake light action, and coasted. He braked to get off of my ass, and I resumed accelerating. No more tail-gating.

It isn't always that easy, but sometimes, you need to send a clear message that riding your ass is not something you'll tolerate. But don't send that message by braking hard and trying to cause an accident.

Is tailgating valid if the car infront of me is drifting down the hill much too slow and im hoping we catch the incline b4 i bump into the person in front of me? I do that ALL the time. Rarely use the brakes unless I have to.

I see that style of passing quite a bit: the highway's empty, and someone approaches rapidly from behind. Instead of moving over way back, they suddenly brake and close to several feet behind you, stay back there for a bit, and then abruptly change lanes and pass in a huff.
Is it just part of the natural trolling instinct that powerfully manifests itself when people get in a car?

people are thoughtless, inconsiderate, short-sighted fucktards behind the wheel

dont get me wrong, everyone is going to make a mistake or be a jerk now and again, especially when driving. but some people do it alot, one time right after the other

Never forced a crash, I let them pass. But I do enjoy seeing them panic. If there was a way to force them to crash without hurting anyone else or there passengers, I'd be all for it. But, there isn't so I can only scare them or make them panic.

Death or injury for being disrespectful or inconsiderate is ok in my book.

You know the worst thing about niggas? Niggas always want credit for some shit they supposed to do. A awesome dude will brag about some shit a normal man just does. A awesome dude will say some shit like, "I take care of my kids." You're supposed to, you dumb motherfucker! What kind of ignorant shit is that? "I ain't never been to jail!" What do you want, a cookie?! You're not supposed to go to jail, you low-expectation-having motherfucker!

If you want your kids to not understand the entire vocabulary then that's your problem. The other kids will call your kid a "fudge packer" and he'll have no idea what that means because you sheltered him and prevented him from learning.

Yes, because my 7 year old needs to learn that it's ok say fuck and every other cuss word. And he better learn quick because if he doesn't the other 2nd graders are going to call him a "fudge packer"

Makes perfect sense.

So, it's your place to punish those who you deem to have done something wrong. Got it. 🙄

Congrats, you've just reinforced my opinion of you.

I generally see good in people and I see people being courteous all the time. Stop focusing on the negative and let these things that seem to bother you so much just roll off your back. It makes for a much less stressful life.

Be more like the dude.

This is a fun situation, happens every now and again. If there's a lot of traffic in the left lane, going just slightly faster than the right, I'll get in the left lane and just go with the flow, following the car in front of me at a reasonable distance. Some hothead wants to get around so he goes into the right lane where there's a gap and accelerates. But invariably he comes up against someone going slow in the right lane. So he has to get back in the left lane. That whole time I've been watching and closing the distance with the car in front of my just enough to force the hothead to go back behind me.

It's so funny how jerks have absolutely no ability to think ahead.

I wish I could, and I'm sure it does.

That's my biggest pet peave, is people that arent curtious and respectful. No idea why, but it is. Especially weird, being that when I was in high school/teens, I was the most disrespectful asshole there could be...

I have lots of pet peeves, especially while driving, but it never really entered into my mind to try and kill some one because of them. At most I usually wished a bird crapped on them or that they got arrested.
