Get off my ass when I'm in the slow lane on the freeway!

I hate that soooooo much. Sometimes I'm not in a hurry. Sometimes I enjoy to drive. Sometimes I want to enjoy the scenery. I've been living in Utah since 01/07 and I STILL find the mountains beautiful.

Why do people feel the need to rush up on me in the slow lane? I've got cruise control at sixty five, I've got the window down, I've got the music up and a smile on my face, I'm not going to accelerate just because you started tailgating. It's especially irritating when the road is pretty empty and there was plenty of time to move over before getting on my ass.

That's what the lane is for, so I can go 65mph and not impede anyone. If you want to go faster, there are 2-3 other lanes to choose from. There are times when I want/need to go faster, and when that desire strikes me I use a more left lane. It's not that hard!

On my bike I cruise more or less around the speed limit. As long as I'm not under I don't feel bad. People don't seem to mind.

It's envy.

I know that I can never be happy and serene like you are, so I will do my best to make sure that you can't enjoy yourself either.

Why are you paying attention to traffic behind you? Perhaps the other driver enjoys getting on your ass?

I see that style of passing quite a bit: the highway's empty, and someone approaches rapidly from behind. Instead of moving over way back, they suddenly brake and close to several feet behind you, stay back there for a bit, and then abruptly change lanes and pass in a huff.
Is it just part of the natural trolling instinct that powerfully manifests itself when people get in a car?

I laugh daily at how random in general people are when they drive. They'll drive 10mph under, with nobody in front of them down a two-lane highway. A few minutes later they'll catch up and pass you doing 10mph over, switch into your lane five feet in front of you, then switch back into the lane they were just in at the last minute to make a turn. :uhm:

I see people cut across three lanes of traffic to get into a left turn lane, wait til the light turns red, then make a right turn. I'll see this once a month at least. Sometimes I wonder if they have a clue on which cardinal direction they're going, and which way their destination is. Double-left turn lanes are the best for this - People in the furthest left lane have to turn into some place on the right after the turn, and the people on the right 'left-turn lane' have to turn left after the turn. So right after you make the turn, everybody is trying to swap lanes - that is if they didn't totally fail to realize it was a double left turn lane and almost put someone into the curb when they switch lanes mid-turn.

Another favorite is pulling up to a stoplight, the first three cars can be in the same lane leading up to it, but they'll spread out and each take their own empty lane. Then they all take off the same speed, and 3 miles down the road they finally spread out a car length and fall back into the same line they were in.

In summary, the majority of people are clueless.

Just this morning, whenever I was in the lane adjacent to the slow lane going 75 mph, cars would just pass me on the right to go 85 mph.

It must be the damn Accord I drive...

People on the freeway are awful human beings. The other day, I was on the freeway, and some jerk was tailgating directly behind me. The lanes to both sides were completely empty, but he insisted on tailgating me anyway. He eventually did change lanes only to immediately tailgate someone else. wtf?

It's only a bummer when you do that on a two-lane road and the guy in the left lane is doing 66 MPH :\. Not your fault, the guy is passing you too slowly. My personal "passing rule" is that taking longer than 10 seconds to pass someone is too long.

It annoys me how, no matter how fast you go, there is someone who want to go 20 mph faster than you. How fast do these people want to go? 90 mph? 100 mph? How badly do they want to die?

Two lane road generally means one lane in each direction.

I always slow right down if someone is tailgating me. Generally I drive a little bit above the speed limit if I feel it's safe to do so, but there's always someone who wants to go faster.

Speed is not related to deaths. It is all of the other factors.

On my way to work everyday I generally hit 80 or 90 on the highway and it is completely safe if you know how to drive.

This is always fun to do, it becomes a game to see how slow you can go until the idiot passes you. 😛

OP- TOTALLY agree. I cruise the freeway for my current job every day. And I can't wait til next month when I don't have to be on the freeway at all for my new job for this exact reason. I set my cruise between 65-68mph with the speed limit of 70. It's a 3 lane highway and I stick to the right lane except to pass trucks. This happens daily and yet somehow I'm the bad guy and I get honked at, flipped off etc. Hey a**hole I'm in the right lane/cruising lane just pass me!

If the speed limit is > 65MPH (which I know it is in parts of UT) then you need to get the hell off the interstate and take the backroads if you want scenery.

One a two lane road if someone tailgates me, I like to slow down even more to make them pass me, then when they do I speed up so they can't, it puts them in panic mode very quickly, especially if another car is coming.

If i'm in a multiple lan road and someone rides my ass, it's game on. I'll let them pass, then I'll speed up and cut them off to piss them off. I hope one day someone hits me or has the balls to pull over.... I fucking hate stupid drivers, so I can combat them with even stupider (i know its not a word, eat shit) driving.

I know that doesnt make sense, but hey, guess what? I don't make sense.
