There is a possibility that I could get a PS3 this Christmas if I split the cost with my father. He has asked me if it's something I'd like to get for Christmas or not. I told him I am not really very interested in the system as it stands right now, I don't like any of the launch titles and don't see much in the near future that I like either. What I would like instead is a Wii but they are very hard to get a hold of apparently the PS3 is a little easier to get at the moment. If I don't get the PS3 odds are I'll have to wait some time before getting a Wii, that is no Christmas present for a while. I can think of a few advantages to getting a PS3, one is that we have a 50" grand wega set to connect it to, which could make good use of the Blu-Ray drive. The other is the fact that while there isn't anything I like out now there's bound to be something I like latter. I prefer RPGs, strategy, and platformers to sports, racing, for FPSs all of which tend to fall into the PSX camp but there are sure to be some great RPGs and other games coming out latter for the PS3.
What would you recomend doing?

Well I will be getting a PS3 in the end!! I am going to split the cost 1/2, 1/2 with my father. I don't actually think this is a mistake. I won't be getting any f the launch titles but instead will get Final Fantasy XII (a PS2) title. I have never owned a PS1 or 2 and while I wait for some good PS3 titles to launch I have a very large library of PS1 and 2 titles to play. Yes I know of the stories that the PS3 has some problems with older titles but it should play the vast majority to titles fine. Also as I mentioned previously blue-ray titles should look good on our large screen TV. I will probably get Wii at some point in the future also.
update: I have the PS3! 60GB.
