I watched that on Comcast OnDemand the other night...fantastic. Haven't laughed that hard in a while. I didn't know he did standup.

oh he has done several full length standup shows, all good stuff on dvd. shows he has the goods.

decent amount of uk comics do pretty long sets actually.. like almost 2 full hours worth.
which is why sarah silverman bombed when she played in the uk and barely 40 minutes worth of material.

also some jimmy carr, Sean Lock, John Bishop, Frankie Boyle, Al Murray, and Stewart Lee stuff has been pretty good.

I thought it was great. He's hilarious, and honestly he's only saying what everyone else is already saying about some of the ridiculous crap celebs pull. The reactions were great.

Been listening to a lot of Gervais lately ("Guide to..." series), he's hysterical.

I thought the jokes were dated and overused.

Charlie Sheen and alcoholism? check
Mel Gibson and jews? What, 6 years old at least?
Tom Cruise and gayness? Did he recently do a rerun of South Park?

Hmm, what else? Oh, the piss-and-poo fifth-grade level joke about Hefner. Damn, that's gotta sting.

Go Ricky! D:

its not his best material, but it is a sh*tty awards show..so everything is relative.
his standup is better.

Who wastes their time watching ANY awards show? Award shows are the biggest waste of time ... Hollywood awarding Hollywood for the crap they shovel?

It's funny that Hollywood is in such a twist over this and it just goes to show how disconnected they are. After all, Gervais was only saying what all of us think on a daily basis. They think they're untouchable. Apparently they are wrong 🙂

You should probably think and speak for yourself.
My brain doesnt constantly go over things that were old news several years ago. I guess I dont watch enough TV and I can still think for myself. Thats a nasty habit and I gotta stop it.

I didn't find it amusing. I don't mind poking fun at people but most of his jokes just weren't even jokes just jabs at people. I feel some other award shows have had much more enjoyable openings while not being extremely rude.

Just goes to show that these award shows are giant circle jerks for Hollywood and why the average person should care, let alone watch, is beyond me.

robert de niro's cringe at the hugh hefner joke was the best

Actually De Niro's quote about "I'm glad I received this lifetime acheivement award before the reviews of Little Fockers came in" got a good chuckle out of me 🙂

Introducing Bruce Willis as "Aston Kucher's Dad"....

Without Gervais this award show would have been an enormous pile of excrement. Even with Gervais it was at least a medium-sized pile.
