Georgia mom praised for having 5-year-old daughter 'pay rent'

The parent is dumb. She should be putting the $5/month into an investment account, not a low-yield savings account. Teach the kid about compound interest and having your money work for you.

Also, that $3,380 or whatever is only accessible once she turns 18? If I were doing this, I would allow my kid to get the money out at 16 so they could buy a car.

She gets the allowance for free, how is that teaching her the value of money, this is teaching her to be an entitled little shit.

You don't get an allowance, you get paid for your chores, dishes, sweeping, etc. Then she gets charged for rent.

All this kid is going to learn is I got $2 a week for doing jack shit.
Well, mom is probably on welfare and food stamps, so what's the difference?

What does ATOT say?

A Georgia mom says it’s never too early to teach children the value of money, which is why she is “charging” her 5-year-old daughter for rent, food and utilities.

This just in.... 5 year old gets $2 a week in allowance and doesn't give a flying fuck about the $5 that she never even sees.

On another note, this is off topic. When did we fucking start fucking censoring the fucking word f-u-c-k? It's fucking stupid.

That was my dream scenario as a kid. I had my Bond villian lair all figured out, geothermal power and helipad included.

Hell even as an adult it seems smarter. You can buy this helicopter for 70k, https://www.ebay.com/itm/2000-Robin...ash=item2a9c88cf14:g:vyEAAOSwjytaWSk6&vxp=mtr buy a 100k house farther out and it seems like it'd be cheaper than a million dollar house, plus a shit ton more fun. With LA traffic you'd probably still beat your friends home flying to bum fuck nevada.

It was offensive to the shit hole countries where the people propagate like rabbits.

You still got taxes and insurance. If I take taxes and insurance out my mortgage is only 4% of my monthly income. I'm not really worried about that 4% I'd rather have the cash in the bank.
whoohoo... .01% interest on dat money. To quote someone in this thread....HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH *breathes* HAHAHAHHAHAHA....

The taxes on my house, 2 cars, 8 acres of woods is.....$898 for 2017. Did I already say....HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH *breathes* HAHAHAHHAHAHA....?

Do not move to the South. It's a shit hole.

I never said it wasn't to invest with, if it wasn't yeah I'd pay the loan off and keep my $80 a month in interest. Might even pull the equity out with a HELOC.

Our vehicles don't get taxed but property taxes are high in the city. I'm at like 2k for an 80k valuation. Trash pickup is included which helps a little.

Ha my plans to own something in the carolinas one day so I'll be coming for ya.

$800,000 in a passbook savings account? Baller.

😀

We got that black ice and shit. You don't really want to live here. I hear Florida is real nice. Naples area.

😉

Regardless of what the finance gurus say, a paid house is pretty damned nice.

Interesting...... when my daughter was about 12 or so, she came to me and asked if she should get a part-time job to help with the expenses. My reply: your job is to go to school and get good grades. Since finishing college her salary is more than my wife's and mine put together

Having a high salary does not equate to handling money well. Not saying this is the case in your instance but there are more than a few examples of people who make a high salary but live paycheck to paycheck and could have used some more financial education at home

It's a user setting you can change, your post isn't censored for me.

Joins 2008, doesn't post until 2017. Seems legit.

I only post to correct a negative opinion he he... but really, what age is a “proper” age to learn? Hmmmm... seems like ANY age would be good!
Nothing wrong with responsibility in my opinion! More people need to start taking responsibility and maybe if they were taught young (or at all) we wouldn’t have all these able bodied people on welfare!

A helicopter pilot that I knew once told me that the reason you never see a helicopter "retire" is that they never make it that long. He also said that his primary job as a helicopter pilot is to keep this thing that is constantly trying to crash and kill everyone inside from doing just that.

Don't tell. The damned libs will move here, vote for stupid laws and raise the taxes. Then it'll look like the other liberal high tax utopias in the country. 😉 My state income tax is half what my bor in law was paying for his NY property tax.

My army buddy told me the same thing, he used the words they are not meant to fly that scientists can't explain how they are even able to fly. I wasn't so sure about that but I understand they are not an easy thing to fly.

Too bad for you I haven't paid state income tax in 3 years something about an exemption for small businesses in ohio. Not that it was ever that much anyway.
