Genghis Grill - best Asian / Mongolian food ever?

I actually like Ghenghis, but...

I don't understand people who think it's the greatest thing ever. YOU are doing all the work. People repeatedly tell me, "But they cook it for you!" Listen idiots, throwing a pile of stuff on a grill and stirring it occasionally is probably the easiest part of the entire cooking process. Knowing what to put together so that it tastes GOOD is the hard part. That's why I go to restaurants, because they paid somebody to figure out what tastes good and what doesn't. Would you go to a restaurant that told you, "Our chef just throws a bunch of stuff together and it may or may not taste good. That'll be $15." Of course not, this is why people go to schools to learn how to cook.

You want the ultimate Mongolian barbeque? It's called your grocery store, they have everything Ghenghis has and more! And cheaper! And guess what, YOU still have to do the hard work of figuring out how to cook it so it tastes good! So Ghenghis chopped up the veggies before you got there, big deal.

Using that argument, then you should never eat out. I can easily cook up a chicken marsala that'll put the local italian restaurant's to shame. I choose to go out for the experience and to have the food cooked for me by someone else. Sure you select your own ingredients but given how I make my bowl, it'd take me a long ass time to prepare all the different ingredients in order to make a bowl at home. My time is more valuable.

I think his point is that if you go there, you should kinda know what you're doing because they do give you a huge selection of spices and sauce that may not go together. One time we went with co-workers and one of them went crazy with everything and got back a goopy mess that was inedible (more spice/sauce <> better and egg don't always go with everything).
I went that once and it was neat to put together your own meal and see it cooked but that was it - What I got back was ok but I wouldn't say it was the best thing I've eaten. Kinda like going to those Japanese grill for the entertainment factor to see the cook toss stuffs around for fun but the food is kind of bland. For a tasty meal I'd go with the restaurant with the expert chef doing their magic recipe in the kitchen.

Some of you seem to be so hard to please. I love the place and through multiple tries, have found a really good combination. Sure, you can make it at home, but as it has been stated before, some people value the experience and their time.

I like going there and trying different bowls. That's fun for me. All this stuff about not getting enough, is silly. One bowl is more than enough for a daily 2000 calorie diet.

Well I'm on a 4000 calorie diet so I guess I'm good 😛

I went there last week and will be going back today. I liked it a-lot.

+1000 I have a frequent users card that gives a free bowl every 10th one.. it's been filled 7 times.

Every visit is different love the being creative and making my own dish.

Last time I went to see some peeps up in dc we went there, a pretty good place for that type of food, although. I generally like family run asian places better.

This is true. The best Mongolian BBQ place that I've been to actually had a few extra sauces next to the rice, and the secret was not to tinker too much with what YOU added to your bowl, but to get it cooked, load up on rice, and then smother the whole thing with their coconut curry sauce. It was OMGWTFBBQAwesome.
