I had my doubts, but I really liked it. I thought the acting was excellent and the gray line that they were forced to walk was sort of eye opening.

I've only gone through the first 3 or 4 episodes, but its not holding my interest. I was eager to see it, for I was a big fan of the Wire, but I might just delete the rest of the shows and move on.

I liked it a lot. Was it another BoB? Obviously not. But I think it told a great story and didn't resort and fall back on crazy action scenes to do so. It had some great characters and acting and really got its point across well. I'm sad it was only 7 eps long

I was surprised it hasn't been discussed more here on ATOT.

Having been to Iraq and Afghanistan I'm sure a lot of the mini-plots are based on true events, but bad stuff happens to frequently and the dialogs is retarded. All of the Marines talk like robots.

I liked it a lot, can someone tell me why at the end where they were showing the video, that one by one kept on leaving?

It was like they were seeing the scenes for the first time and didn't like what they saw.

^ exactly. it started out all fun and cheery with the guys all laughing and having a good time but then they saw all the death and destruction and realized that they didn't exactly like what they saw. except for trombley, but he's crazier than a bag of a hammers.

edit: btw i liked it and in a way im upset that it was only 7 episoders but it was a nice to have as it held me over nicely for 'entourage'. btw it was great watching encino man getting worked over during the football game. and holy crap on the triangle choke by rudy.

'Cause it glorified the brutality and sickened them. Note the last dude remaining was the one who shot civilians and proclaimed a sort of death wish.

I would rate it "meh". I found it odd during viewing since it was described as being about the experience of an imbedded reporter but really that character was merely a device to tell the story and had little involvement or dialog.

Captain America, what a clusterfuck. I laughed when the reporter accidentally used his nickname when talking to Godfather.

The show was consistently good with a few weak points or problems. Nothing's perfect though.

Imagine being the actor who played that douche. Going home to your wife and kids and friends and hearing, "Daddy's a natural as an ass!"

I LOVED the Wire, so I was really looking forward to GK. Now that its over, I have to say that it was certainly good, but not as phenomenal as I expected. The combat never got intense enough for me, and there wasn't enough of it. Other than that, it was better than every other crap series produced for television.

I'm very interested in learning more about Lt. Fick, who seemed like a fantastic platoon commander and apparently wrote his own book after leaving the Corps. Generally speaking, the non-coms seemed dedicated, talented, and relatively considerate of the Iraqis, while the company commanders and Captain America (a captain commanding a platoon for whatever reason) were all made to look completely incompetent and downright dangerous, except for the captain who punched Encino Man during the football game (I can't remember his name). Godfather was a cool character even if he ended being an asshole regarding his treatment of his officers and the natives.

If the series was accurate, I am more disgusted than ever with Bush and his reckless, ramshackle foreign policy and the effect it has had on our military and the rest of the world.

I liked it alot. It was confusing at times remembering who was who at first but you get past that. I think the lack of combat that someone else was complaining about was intentional, as it showed that most of the time the soldiers were bored silly as they weren't being given anything skill related to do, and then when there was combat to fight it was a total clusterfuck that they had no chance of "winning".

That's it, I'm oscar mike.

Apparently you need to learn more about history. The invasion of Iraq was not very intense.

I still have to watch the last episode. I think the series sort of lacked focus and profundity. But maybe that was the point.

I really wanted to try and like it but I just thought it tried to be too much and kept rehashing the same issues (from the same perspectives with the same dialogue) episode after episode.

Nonetheless it was interesting to see how the Marines saw the war....Also, for those that might find it interesting, here is a video of the real 'godfather'

it was sorta better than over there.
but it probably needed a bigger budget and more direction.
