==================================
WARNING, read before ordering from ENPC.COM
==================================

Visiontech OEM Geforce2 GTS 32MB DDR S-Video Out was $39 then $45 now $39 again but now without with TV out?

Just ordered one from ENPC.COM and was charged 6.72 for UPS ground service from NY to PA.

They have mixed reviews from Resellerratings.com

Their warranty and RMA terms look bad too. Defective items must be returned to the manufacturer.

I have a GTS-V in transit from Newegg, 34.50 delivered for a refurb. These are hard to get.
Recently ordered another GTS with TV out, from a liquidator, and thought their $48.50 price was great.

Can you tell I'm building up a bunch of inexpensive gaming machines. :)

Edit: Here is a Link
And I now have an automatic email confirmation for my order.

Edit: price increased to $45 + S&H but still showing in stock on their website

Edit: price back down to $39 but the description no longer mentions TV Out feature.

Edit: May-15, UPS ground shipment arrived. A UPS overnight bubble bag was used as packing material.

The good part:
It does have TV out and came with a Visiontech driver cd (dated 7-01)

The bad: !!! WARNING !!!
Sold as OEM, but obviously USED (dirty fan, scratches on agp port, screw marks from prior installs).
Not a Geforce2 GTS (edit: received a 64Mb GTS). Marked "NV892.0 Rev. A", and "30001180 VT QC".
It has Hyundai sdram.

EDIT: Maybe not so bad after all...

Initial tests indicate that the board has GTS-2 performance.
I can't get my usual Nvidia registry hack to bring up the clock frequency adjustment tab.

Some GTS boards were apparently made, (like this one?), with ddr sdram, and not the ddr sgram most commonly seen. I have two GTS-2 boards, both with ddr sgram.

GeForce FAQ SDR DDR Info

Hope I didn't scare anyone that ordered this. So far, other than being USED!!!, my card seems ok. I still need to test the TV output, do more benchmarking, and get the clock frequency tab working.

UPDATE: WooHoo!!!

This board has 64Mb of 6ns DDR SDRAM which clocks well beyond the 333Mhz defaults, past the GeForce2 PRO 366Mhz level and all the way to 397Mhz before any artifacts appear. While running Serious Sam at 1024x768x32 an infrequent single sparkle of snow appears against dark backgrounds at 397Mhz. At 395Mhz I see no artifacts at all.

My other two DDR SGRAM GeForce2 GTS boards don't come close to this performance level.

Oh yeah, the TV-out works fine. So 39.00 + 6.72 shipping = 45.72 delivered. I'm happy again.

YMMV! Please tell us what you receive from this outfit.

I also got the GTS-V card from newegg. Flashed the card's bios to give full GTS performance. But this is a hotter deal since it has TV-out. Their model number does not correspond to anything from Visiontek, retail or OEM. I suspect a typo and may order anyway.

Cruzer,

I've got the newegg GTS-V also. Can you tell me what you gained by flashing to "original GTS" performance? I'm pretty happy with the video performance already, but you can always do better!

If you know of a link for more info, I'd be happy to do the reading!

....and this looks like a HOT deal!

:)

do you know what kind of RAM on this batch of GTS?

Eariler Newegg batch can let you overclock a lot faster they use 5.5ns RAM, the one I've got has 7ns RAM and could only overclock slightly.

That's a good price!

Visiontek RMA is GREAT!

I once got a defective TNT2 PRO 32MB and uBid did not warranty it even though it is DOA. I sent the card back to VisionTek after I got visiontek RMA number and they told me they do not make TNT2 PRO anymore and give me a brand new MX400 32MB
*It took about a month for the RMA to get back.

kbaxter,

Try and find the original AT thread for the GTS-V from newegg. There is much discussion of the BIOS mod for this card. One of the posters packaged all the BIOS images, flasher and instructions in a folder. Since I use the stock cooling that came with the card I flashed his "conservative" setting of 200 core/332 (DDR)mem.
I don't remember scores but I did loop madonion for a few hours to verify stability. The BIOS flash just hardwires the same settings you can get from software like coolbits, etc. But I thought it was great to flash it once and never worry about re-doing registry settings with new OS installs. I can e-mail the folder to you. It is about 750 Kb when zipped.

Here is the link for GF2GTS-V_BIOS_Mod_Disk.zip

Reposted "while it lasts"... Anyone wanting to host it is welcome to.

Note that the BIOS editor included in the ZIP could be used to edit the BIOS of the cards that started this thread as well, but you could lose the TV or S-video-out features if you tried flashing the included GTS-V BIOS to a card with video-out.

After flashing, it still overclocks (or underclocks) as before. It is merely changing the speed it starts out at, defaults to. I suppose you could find your ideal clock speed and then flash it to that, if you want spend enough time on it.

I can only speak for mine one sample, which still has the lowly (but at least quiet) factory heatsink attached with that glue-like substance, and the 7ns memory... It can do 3DMark loops at 218 core, 197 memory, though I have it running at 210/190. Can't say if it will run ALL games at that (218/197) speed or not, it was doing fine for the time I used it, then I lost interest and went back to using a GF3. I don't think the heatsink is much of an issue though, once the core gets over 190 there is dimishing return on addt'l core speed increase.

so if it could do 200/200 b4 flashing, then it will still only do 200/200 after flashing?

Yes, assuming the o'c utility (or tweak, etc), is able to provide high enough speed settings, the top speed attainable won't change. For example, the "coolbits" tweak won't show high enough memory settings to max out a GF2GTS, without a registry edit or BIOS flash to set the memory to at least 170 or 171MHz. I don't think other utilities have this much of a limitation, but I DO hate needing to use utilities to get the hardware running at my preferred "defaults".

What is this thing ENPC.com sent me?

You have SDRAM on that card? Then you have a GF2 MX200 or MX400 of some sort my friend. Whatever you do, don't flash it to a GF2 GTS BIOS or you'll obviously have a dead board. All GF2 GTS(-V) cards are supposed to have DDR memory.

How did your video card go from 32 meg sdr to a 64 meg meg ddr?
What program are you using to tell you it is 64 meg ddr?
Also, what program were you using to tell you it was 32 meg sdr before?

Stupid question that I would be much obliged if someone answered:

What's the difference between DDR sGram and DDR sDram?
