Expensive! Yet when we look at 7970 launch prices not that surprising. Still, I'm a bit disappointed. 749 would have been nicer - maybe 1-2 months after launch.

If it's a single gpu, 690-ish performer that can then be SLIed, I'm game.

I'll still do what I did last year though. Wait until the other company responds (this time AMD) and buy which one is the best choice when both have new parts available.

$899... If true I guess they only plan on selling 20,000 or so over it's production lifetime. Many of the gk104 rumors were debunked as it's release drew near, hopefully the same thing happens in regards to this supposed MSRP.

I like the name though.

I don't see how it's possible they'll get 690 performance out of it. Best case scenario, if it launches with high clock speeds (850-900mhz), I think it'll be around 50% faster than a gtx680.

EDIT: The link says 85% the performance of gtx690. I don't feel like looking up benchmarks to see if that correlates to my 50% faster calculations.

MSRP is true. I'm actually relieved since my source said $999 😀

Well that really sucks 🙁. This may be the lowest volume single GPU Geforce card ever. Looks like I will not be upgrading until 20nm maxwell. I'll just have to continue to stockpile amazon gift cards.

Rumours are that nVidia is having yield issues- it's the reason that GK100 never made it into a product in the first place. If yields are low it makes sense that they'd want to save more for their GPGPU customers.

No one can even prove or disprove that GK100 actually existed in silicon form.

Insofar as GK110, I have not seen any rumors at all on GK110's yields, and I regularly read here, beyond3d, semiaccurate, hardocp, among other sites. I'm sure Charlie would have jumped all over an opportunity to write an article about GK110's yields if they were/are as bad as Fermi's GF100 rumored yields were. But regardless, if you have links that talks about GK110's yields please post them.

But that fits, doesn't it?

GTX680=100%
GTX690=185% (no CPU bottlenecks please 😉 )
Titan=185%*0.85=157%

Yeah I guess so. I so sleep deprived (wife and I just had first kid, he is six weeks old today) that I don't feel like making any effort for anything.

I have a feeling this price tag won't stick for all that long. If the 8970 is 25% faster than 7970GE, then it will only be 15-20% slower than Geforce Titan. AMD wouldn't price the 8970 at $699, would they?

I hope too that the price goes down a bit. It will be hard to resist getting two at launch. But looking at GTX680 prices which have dropped by 20% in about a year, I don't think waiting is really worth it.

Reading that link it looks like all cards will be reference as the GTX 690, no aftermarket designs will be allowed. (also guessing voltage will stay locked) That's a bummer, but still looking forward to this nonetheless. Should be a heck of a card, even if it's expensive.

Why 6GB though? I don't get that. Unless they're positioning it for 4k gaming, but that isn't even remotely close to happening anytime this year.

I think they confused it with K20X. That has 14SMX, 6GB and 235W TDP. Would be quite a coincidence if Nvidia chose the exact same configuration for Titan.

Imho,

May redefine price premium! The market may determine price but without strong competition both AMD and nVidia may show predator teeth when they have their opportunities. A sku with a potentially higher MSRP than the 8800 Ultra!

Curious if there will be refreshes soon for the GK-104. Curious how flexible the GK-110 is for additional Sku's and the process maturity, having the possibility of a full GK-110 core.

More choice is always welcomed though and at least, potentially, the GK-110 may be in the hands of gamers. Tough on price/performance still based on a substantial and significant node and arch if this comes to fruition.

Yeah no way it will be running at 735mhz and will "only" be 235w. I'm expecting 250+ watts, 850-900mhz.

Yup. I expect full 2880 cores clocked at 850 MHz base clock and around 900 MHz boost clocks.
I also think it will only have 3GB VRAM and a TDP of 250-270W.

Because they have space on it, and ram prices are cheap now compared to when the 600 series came out.

I will prob pick on of these up on launch day if I can find one. I like my GTX 580 SLI, but i have issues with it in some games and other games I play i don't need it. A single card will be better for my needs.
