Actually you lose THREE slots - yes THREE
The AGP (Duh!)
PCI 1
PCI 2
PCI 1 - Completely obscured
PCI 2 - Half obscured
nVidia REALLY need to do what ATi have done with the R300 - simple and normal cooling
- in fact all the Radeon's has had normal cooling while the GeForce's have been getting crazier each time
I'm DEFINITELY going with ATi if nVidia can't wipe this off their feet.
(And I Have never owned an ATi card before - all 3Dfx and nVidia - but this will be the turning point - ATi are just sensible)

fine, u guys don't get the geforce fx since u are all whining about how it takes up 2 slots, do u relize it will run cooler and keep your pc cooler? I think its a good design, i only use one pci slot anyways, so i frankly could care less. I'm sure no one is using 5 pci slots here.

Using 5 or 6 PCI slots may not be the "norm", but then again, it's hardly the average user who will want the FX, it'll probably ve mainly those people using most of their PCI slots who want it, so nVidia may be up sh*t creek with that one. As well, how is the core made? I know ATi have gone for a flip-chip package, like with modern processors, but are nVidia going this route as well, or using the traditional methods for GPU's? If they did go flip chip, would it be any better (for cooling especially in its case)?
