Yeah you have to realize, thats the price after theyve been out a while. The 8800GT's are supposed to be $200 msrp as well, but do you see any for that price? I sure dont....

Only the 256MB version is supposed to retail for $200. The 512MB one has a MSRP of $250.
 
No it doesnt. Theres an article where a guy from nvidia clearly stats the 512mb version is supposed to be in the $200 range. Its not the 256mb. The 256mb is supposed to be under $200.

In the original review they said $200-250 MSRP range. Many sites giving praises to 8800GT are being a bit revisionist in regards to the pricing.

I got my xfx 8800GT from dell this morning! Just to let you know, it comes with Company of Heroes and the ordering code on the box says PV-T88P-YDF4 its a black pcb card which means I got the one with the new bigger fan! I've read somewhere that after Dec. 5 all model or most should have the new fan from xfx.

I hope getting a YDQ4 card in a YDF4 box is going to be a trend and not just a single aberration. 😀

I ordered the same card from Dell on 12-4-07, it estimated my shipping date as today,

then a little while ago, I sat at my desk, while visions of Crysis danced through my head

Then all of a sudden there arose such a clatter,

11/24 which supposed to shipped on 12/10 then I got a similar letter stating it would be delayed until 12/19. It actually ended up shipping on 12/14 and arrived this morning.
 
I would like to have it by Xmas but I won't die if I don't,

me and my wife are going out of town for a week to visit family starting on the 27th and I doubt I'll find time to build my rig let alone enjoy it before I leave town, plus I still need to get a new PSU, but I'm planning on picking one of those up at the local frys electronics.

I took some extra vacation time when I come back and don't have to be back at work till the 7th, so I really hope it comes before that.

(the advantage of working for a school district, no kids or teachers around, no need for computers, no need for IT)
 
Thanks to whoever it was that turned me on to the 12% email coupon for Best Buy.

I caught the BFG 512MB OC card in stock last week and on sale. After the 12% coupon the price was $209.43 before tax. 😀

Sorry, but you may need to read some of the other Dell post on 8800GT delivery timing. Dell's quoted "Usually Ships: 6+ Weeks " would be GREAT if even close to true.

Yeah, I read that. He was talking about street prices, not MSRP. He was also talking about a time in the future after the initial demand is met.

Just came back from Fry's. They had a stack of YDE4s. I checked them out and some had the old, smaller coolers and green PCBs while some had the newer cooler and black PCBs. The older ones had warranty dates of 11/07 and the newer ones 12/07. There was a revision number on each card's box as well, but I don't remember what the numbers are.
 
I'm not sure I understand why people rush to buy a product even with inflated prices. It just...doesn't make sense to me.
