True dat!

PingSpike: Thanks for the update

I jumped at the inflated price, because that means i can step up to a GTS or other higher end card at the end of the 90 days for not much more. Quake wars was a deal sealer for me, I hope it is fun!

PRICE GOUGING FTL!

Gouging can really only take place on generators during a hurricane. This is just setting prices where the market will bear and is about as American as apple pie.

Still in stock as I write this. Sooner or later the demand for the card will wane and retailers will be forced to lower their price. Really can't blame them for gouging but yes it does suck for those without patience.

See the quote from the first post? "We can expect the stock clocked 512MB 8800 GT to hit $200 at the low end. The 256MB part, which won't show up until the end of November, will hit prices below $200."

Yeah, it'll be well into 2008 before we see those prices. Can you imagine a $200 512MB OC edition right now?

One last point, if you can find a stock-clock one, save yourself some money and get it. There's this great, free program from nvidia called "ntune" you can use to OC your stock (gasp!) card to well over any other OC edition 8800GT. No need to thank me, even though I just did save you about $20-100 bone. What's that? You don't like to OC and that's why you buy the OC editions from the manufacturer? LOL What do you think they use? Some super-special cooling, gold-thermal paste or something? No! They just use the same reference cooler everyone else uses. Only difference is that they tweak the BIOS to set the default speeds up by 20-75mhz. If you've been paying attention, 20-75mhz is pocket change. There's always headroom for 100mhz+.

/end rant

Hey what happened with that $220 msi, why did they up the price to 245 so quickly..??

I would buy that pny for 245, does anyone know of any coupons for any of the website that provide them?

I had an order with ewiz that was a little cheaper for XFX, but ewiz only had ground shipping...and since I sold my current card that was kind of hurting. Plus, I wanted Quake Wars (even though I can't really play it right now) and the opportunity to step might come in handy especially with the inflated price I ended up paying.

My eVGA 8800GT SC arrived from ncixus.com yesterday. Only had time to pop it in and run 3dMark06 before I needed to get to bed. Scored a 11,212.

Will try overclocking tonight.

Thanks for the heads up!

Got my order in with ewiz at 10:30 am CT.
It's been stuck on order processing and just now shows order received. Here's hoping I can get it before thanksgiving!

Also, before ordering with ewiz I called one of my local Best Buys and had them check availability. They didn't have any, nor did any surrounding stores. They also mentioned that it showed non were on order.

Any idea what the difference is between these two
EVGA 512-P3-N802-AR e-GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0, DVI+DVI+HDTV, HDCP, RoHS

EVGA 512-P3-N802-A1 e-GeForce 8800GT Superclocked 512MB DDR3 PCI-E 2.0, DVI+DVI+HDTV, HDCP, RoHS

Both are $299 @ mwave AR is in stock A1 is out

Arrgh. Just got a voice mail from ewiz stating they "did not receive a shipment of this card yet". Haven't had a chance to call and get an ETA yet...

Does anyone know if BB will credit you the full $30 difference if you paid $279.99 and used a 10% off coupon bringing the original net price to $252 (since there are no coupons involved in the new price), or would they take the original net price and only refund $2?

Hmm, nice price for the BFG.

Hows their warranty? Does it compare to the likes of XFX and eVGA?

Im wondering mostly about overclocking and lifetime warranty.

As with any other sale at Best Buy, technically, no, you're not supposed to use the 10% off coupon with any other offer. It says so right in the small print (but YMMV).
