Hello,

I tried clicking on the item, but did not see an option to add it to my cart. I used the URL you posted.

Think it's really out of stock now? :)

Thanks!

Unreal -- it doesn't surprise me how quickly this card sells out, but this is a classic case of demand exceeding supply by a good bit. Online retailers sell out within hours of getting them!

I just picked up one of the MSIs from Dell. $218.39 total. Not a bad deal, but i would have preferred a BFG. MSI makes pretty craptastic stuff.

Anyone know when Newegg should be getting some more of these? I'm debating whether I should hold out for the EVGA at Newegg or just go ahead and get one of these from Dell.

Seems like a decent price. I am currently on hold with dell to cancel the one I placed yesterday using paypal and am going to purchase this one instead.

Look what I did, created a mess for you guys, lol.

At $207 you can't argue with that. I've had MSI mobo's and GPU's before, never had a problem with any. Besides, the GPU is straight from nVidia anyway. The only thing manufacturers do is tweak the BIOS (i.e. clock speeds) and put their logo on the heatsink and put in a box. Only difference between one manufacturer to another is their warranty and trade-up program if they have one.

I'll never understand why people will pay more for the overclocked versions of a card when you can do it yourself for MUCH less money. They're overclocking it a measly 50-75mhz on most OC cards. Nothing ntune or Rivatuner can't take care of.

I'm in for one @ $218.39. Missed it the first time around, wasn't gonna waffle this time. BFG's lifetime warranty is nice, but after 3 yrs I think I can afford another card should this one decide to go belly up. Heck, my venerable 9800 Pro wasn't much for gaming after 3 yrs and. If you don't miss treat them by OC'ing their little brains out all day long they should last as long as needed.

Anyone wish to buy my pair of 7800GT's so that I can begin to afford a pair of the new 8800's? :)

I think because they know they are getting a card that can be overclocked more and is likely to be more stable. They use chips that have been tested at higher clock speeds in the OC cards. Part of the quality control process allows for variance in production quality. I would guess these cards get the higher quality chips.

How many fps would a 50-90mhz difference in clock speed equate to?

Well, thanks to this discussion thread, I'm the proud new "about to be" owner of the Dell MSI 8800GT card!

Does anyone else worry that we're just essentially throwing our money into an indefinite backorder pile? That Dell link has been up all day and it still says it ships in 1-2 weeks even though if you ordered it right now it looks like you'd be about #1,825,038 in the queue.

It actually sounds like almost all 8800GT's using stock cooling have heat "issues". Within specs, but hot as heck, since the fan won't ramp up on it's own until it gets real hot.

Have any of you replaced the stock cooling on their 8800GT? I suppose if it were easy as modifying a stock CPU cooling solution it would not be too much of an issue.

Well, I went with the NewEgg XFX card after realizing that it was in stock too. Canceled my Dell order, because I'm a little more comfortable with NewEgg. I just didn't anticipate NewEgg getting any more of these in before Christmas. Of course, that realization hit me just after I hit Submit on Dell's website, lol.

Odd this item is 'deactivated' on the newegg site. I wonder what that means....

I broke down and ordered the MSI 8800 GT. I hope I'm not sorry. I think the tipping point was when the Unreal Tournament 3 Editor said it didn't support Shader Model 2.0 cards (like my x800xt-GTO) and I couldn't see the (needed) grid lines in the Editor. After getting $6 back in Fat Cash and $2.50 back through my credit card, it should come to $212 shipped after taxes.

I read that Newegg feedback where a guy said that the GPU would get too hot. I'm planning to use RivaTuner to set the fan speeds, so hopefully the stock cooling will be OK. If not, guess I'll need an after market solution, which would suck since it would raise the price up. I doubt I'll feel a need to try to further overclock it anytime soon. Maybe it would be cooler if it were underclocked some?

What's so much better about that much more expensive XFX card anyway, other than its maybe having a better warranty? Doesn't the MSI card dome with a stock overclock that beats that XFX card's overclock? Looked like it had the same stock cooling.
