A 7600gt can also get 4500 in 3dmark06. But because the final score is so horribly cpu-dependent, it doesn't tell much about how good or bad the video card really is.

That depends on what kind of Vam its using. GDDR4 could be a possbility, and bandwidth wont be a problem.

my fastest PC gets 4500 'ish in 06

as pointed out above, the article only mentions the 8600GT which is specced much lower than the Ultra, so there is a fair chance of the top 8600 getting well over 5000 marks in 06.

Agreed; although they do seem to be talking about 128-bit ones, so if an Ultra is still to be released, it will probably be alot more powerful.

I've sworn off any cards with a 128-bit memory bus (or lower) - they are just toys.
I have an X850Pro and now an X1950GT. Got rid of my R9200 128-bit, boy was it slow.
