I'm sure the Geforce 5 will be well out of my price range until the GeForce 7 comes out. I'm on a GeForce 2 GTS right now that I got an awesome deal for when I bought it, and I just ordered a Radeon 8500 LE for $125. Under $150 is my sweet spot. :)

I bought a GeForce2 Ti when my GeForce 256 died on me over Christmas Break. It's amazing how fast nVidia pumps out these new cards.

I wonder how high they will number them until they decide to start a new naming line?

<< I'll believe it when I see it. It's still vaporware...like the Matrox "G1000." >>

nvidia has a schedule of 6 month release cycles.

That's when Direct X 9.x is going to be released? Does Microsoft control the advancement of videocard technologies?
I don't think is vaporware or rumor, since the CEO announced it, not some rumor spread by you or me. I think Anand may already has a version of it in his lab. I remember that Anand had the GF4 as early as Fall of 2000, when the GF3 Ti500 was announced.

i think over $100 for a video card is a waste of money. price will drop so quickly that you won't even have time to resell at your purchased price ;)

Well...My Geforce 2 Mx will hold me off, it still seems like a huge improvement over my Matrox Mystique, wich i had been using until last month. God, that card was slow. No "multi-texturing capablilites" and it only had 2 mb ram. Geez, i'm glad thats over with.

I've got to agree. By the time any software comes around that actually supports all the great features of a card it's a dinosaur that's 2 generations old. Hell, we're well into the GF4 era with GF5 well on the way, but there's nothing that actually requires even a GF3 to run smoothly on most machines at common resolutions. So what if you only get 150fps on quake instead of 230? My $50 GTS-V is more than enough for almost anything for the near future, so I'll pick up a GF4 for $50 8 months from now from some clown that paid $400 for it :p

try playing the yavin swamp level in 1600x1200@32bit color in Jedi Knight 2, we are talking graphic intensive, my geforce 2 gts couldnt handle it. i bumped down to 16 bit and 1024x768
