Geez...why do people enjoy drinking?

I am 18, never drank before, my girlfriend was on a quest to get me drunk before I leave for college(I don't know why, she doesn't drink much either). Last night, she got her wish, we stayed over at her friend's house that basically had an unlimited supply of every kind of alcohol. I actually did suprisingly well, it took 3 beers, 4 shots of something 80 proof and 2 shots of something 50 proof before I even felt a buzz(I only weigh 130 pounds), but she keep em' comin and I don't even know how much I eventually had...I hated it. Being drunk sucks. I was still thinking perfectly clear(or at least I thought I was), but I couldn't act normal, and I hate not being in control of myself. This morning I expected to have a huge hangover, I just had a little headache, I took tylenol and now I'm fine. I actually and probably still a little tipsy, cuz it takes an hour to diffuse one drink, and I had god only knows how many, so at that rate I've still got some in my system. I dunno...I didn't understand the draw to drinking before, and now I understand it even less, cuz it was a terrible experience, and everything I had tasted horrible.

I don't get it either. I just don't like the taste. I had my first taste of alchol during High School beach grad and sampled many different types of alcohol. I just didn't "get" what was so damn appealing of getting drunk and making an ass of yourself.

I also find it rather pitiful and dispicable to see drunk ass folks clammering all over the place and not being able to control themselves. Drinking just to get drunk is about as stupid as sticking a fork in an electrical socket IMHO.

I am only 5'6", and I have the fastest metabolism in the universe, hence the weight. I've got a good amount of muscle for my size(max bench was 180 back in april, probably higher now), I just have virtually no fat on me. We did a body fat percentage test in school, mine is only 3%.

Being forced to drink sucks. When you do it of your own free will, and in the right environments - bowling, golf, LAN party, ect then it's a lot more enjoyable.

Oh, and NEVER EVER take tylenol after/before/while consuming alcohol. It can be fatal.

Drinking to get drunk is different than drinking socially to kind of wind-down. Most responsible people who drink, drink this way, and not very often (ie drinking all the damn time no matter what party they're at...). Sure, most people opt to get waisted to see what it's like, but it's not an enjoyable experience. For me I like to have a 3-4 Mikes/Beers and I feel a bit easier to talk and such, not a buzz per se, but ya know.

And what he said ^^

You weight 130 lbs and are 18? :Q

seriously? Not that i drink, but that's...um..wow!

-=bmacd=-

dude have you started college yet? most alcohol is an acquired taste IMO, specially beer... as with shots, well if they tasted that nice ppl would drink em slowly not take shots, eh?

being drunk is very fun...luckily im a beer-lightweight so like even tho im like 6' and weigh like 170 or something like 3-4 beers and im buzzing like a madman... dunno why i have a high liquor tolerance though so it'll take a few shots... oh well being drunk is fun and is what frosh week is all about!! 😛

Very serious. Tylenol, when mixed with alcohol wrecks havoc on your liver. There have been several incidences where somebody popped a couple tylenol before they went to bed as a preemptive strike against their hangover and wound up waking up in a hospital bed.

Well I wasn't so much forced as urged...and offered incentives 😀

Really? lol maybe she is trying to kill me....

And yes I know it can cause liver damage, I can tell you biologically why you get drunk when you drink alcohol...and I definitely don't have to worry about becoming an alcoholic in college, cuz I sure have no reason to drink again.

Yes, seriously. The same holds true for ALL drugs. Alcohol multiplies their effect and in cases like Tylenol, can cause severe damage. Don't they teach kids anything in health class anymore?

I always try to get my housemates drunk on the nights we play cards. It's the only way I can beat them sometimes 🙂.

People drink to help them relax. But usually they drink a bit, and they drink something they like the taste of. I like Cider, so I never drink beer. If you don't like the taste of whatever you're drinking, find something else or say you don't like the way it tastes and have something else.

There is very little which can adequately rationalize binge drinking. Perhaps you could consider it a right of passage through college?

As an adult I enjoy a few drinks every now and again... even more so if I let loose and get drunk occasionally....

It is a release and should be viewed as such. Lighten up, you'll enjoy it.

No. I leave the 16th, classes start on the 23rd. And I thought the beer tasted disgusting too.

give it a couple of years and you'll be posting differently. 🙂

I just got wasted last night, but I enjoy it when there's a good party atmosphere going. It releases all inhibitions, and provided you're sober enough not to make a COMPLETE fool out of yourself, it's actually pretty fun. I find myself a MUCH more outgoing guy with 4 raging bulls and 4 vodka tonics in my body.

The one thing that sucks about getting drunk and living in NYC is having to stumble home at 4 in the morning with no assurance of successfully getting home. 🙁
