Uh, no, my argument is clear, piracy is theft and it does not need to involve physical property in order to qualify as theft under US law. That's consistent with every comment I've made, particularly the ones quoted here.

Which again goes back to the fundamental point of the argument and a point you still don't seem to understand: theft does not need to involve a physical product in order to be considered theft according to US law. Again, just shows how important it is for pro-piracy/anti-DRM lobbyists to make this distinction in their own minds, as stealing is considered wrong, while "copying bytes of data" is somehow justified.

Yep it was worth a good laugh, another prime demonstration of the extent you're willing to embarass yourself in defense of piracy. One final laugher, do you consider piracy/copyright infringement as theft, or not? :laugh:

Everytime something like this happens or a game comes out with absurdly restrictive DRM, everyone's always coming out saying they've never had any issues with DRM - and it's usually our more senior members.

So what happens in situations such as this when you try to play the game in 5 years and it has "expired". I doubt the company will do much to support it, and you could be out of luck.

This essentially means you are paying to rent the game and not own it. I happen to like firing up an old game and playing it when I feel like it. How pissed-off would people here be if Baldur's Gate 1/2 "expired" in 2005 because of DRM. Rediculous.

It seems that DRM is just a vicious cycle where it causes users to pirate, and then it says that DRM is needed because piracy is on the rise.

We won't ever have good pirating stats because it is impossible to know if downloads=pirates. I may conceivably download 100 games, but if I only play 3, do we consider all 100 piracy?

If the developer is gone and it's not making money for the publisher any longer then you're probably out of luck and you'd need to look for a crack or something.

Agreed. More incentives for people to buy games is what we need, not more roadblocks.
