"Excuse me, Mr. neighbor's kid's friend. Can you please take that exhaust you're so proud of off your car because when you start the engine, everyone within 10 houses can hear it. Also, please lose the remote starter - I know you paid a few hundred for it but that low hum coupled with the exhaust we hear for 5-10 minutes like 3 times a day is so unbearable I actually have to turn music on so it stops bothering me."
"Oh yeah, I'll get right on it."
K thanks.
Wow you are clueless. I meant that you would ask him not to idle for long periods of time, that would at least make the issue less of one. Which is at least something. Of course he isn't going to take it off entirely, and the fact that you think he should proves that you do think it should be a rule or a law, if only a rule in your own little world.
Idling for long periods of time isn't what's making everyone wake up at 6am. Idling for long periods of time isn't what I'm hearing 2 blocks down the road. Did I mention I know when he's coming too? I don't believe I did.
This kid's car is just a PITA all around. I wish he would just go away, so I can be in my own little world. In my own little world, I wish people would realize there are other people in it.
in your own little world, would everyone drive little econoboxes too? I hate them. Sorry, but I like my vehicle to be able to have fun too. Now, I don't see a point in putting in an after-market exhaust, but I want a muscle car, and that will be loud, no doubt. Or a large truck. No, it's not about the noise, although I do enjoy the growl of a muscle car or large truck, but I like loud noises in general. loud music, loud explosions, loud reports from weapon systems firing, etc etc. It's about the fun I would get out of having the vehicle.
Am I now an ape because of what I typed above? Just beating my chest? I don't give a shit about making that kind of impression, it's not important to me in life, nor do I want to attract the people who like that kind of impression. That's not my way of life, never have been that type of person. But I like to have fun, and having a vehicle with power is fun. Sure, you don't need 300+ horsepower for the highway, but that's only if you want to go the speed limit. I'll admit I'll speed, not recklessly mind you, and I drive the speed limit or slower in bad weather or bad road conditions, because I know my vehicle and what it is and is not capable of.
I'll also blare music inside my house, say, if I'm chilling out back in my backyard or something. (this is all future tense, my plans. Still living at home/on campus and when I'm activated, I'll be living either on base or at a small place off base).
These are all reasons why I want to eventually own a home that's a little more secluded, with a large yard and a little distance in between houses, and definitely not in an apartment, at least not for a long period of time. I'll die a lot inside if I have to manage in an apartment, because I can't do anything loud.
No, it won't be because I have no considerations for others. But um, I'm exercising my freedoms.
😉 And dammit, they can do the same thing if they want, I'm not gonna mind, nor do I care when someone has a loud vehicle in my neighborhood back home or goes rumbling down the street here on campus.
I'm gonna be the 45 year old who still blasts his rock music out of the house while chilling in the yard/pool. Guarantee it.
😀
And if anyone wants to say anything, first I'll invite them over for a beer, then tell them to unfuck themselves and loosen up.
😛
And is the primary reason I will never live in a HOA.
😛
At least, this is the way I envision myself in the future, if things go according to plan and I have a successful life in/out of the Army.
and btw, intelligence has nothing to do with this. I could go into computer engineering if I put the effort into it, but I've grown out of computers except as a hobby. I was actually training to go into network administration, but I got insanely bored with it and dropped that direction in life and went into security and intelligence for homeland security. That's my backup if I don't end up sticking in the Army for a career, although that's the current plan. Of course, gotta wait till I'm active to actually make that call for sure. That, and if I get one of my choice branches when I graduate is going to be a huge reason to stick around or not. If I get finance and have no hope of changing branches in the future, damn straight I'll probably get out. I need combat arms of some sort, with military intelligence being the only in-between as far as combat/non-combat goes, although my top choice at the moment is armor or armored cavalry.
sorry for the long and segued post, but thought I'd offer up insight now before people question me later.
