Where as the loudest car I've heard around my house is this

http://youtube.com/watch?v=A4xdZ6B0WuY

But I don't think the videos truly convey how loud those powerstrokes are, I love it.

My neighbors cuda sounds about like this

http://youtube.com/watch?v=xS7ZNrWUGNQ

But the powerstroke is actually louder - its crazy how loud those suckers are. The turbo is a lot louder then mine too

And all three of them (in my opinion) sound like crappy untuned vehicles.

Hey I'm just giving rh71 the option really. I already said it before.

You think about the problem logically, you search for a solution. In this case the sound proofing of your house is actually a very good solution if you can afford it. Otherwise there really isn't much rh71 can do at this point. Windows make a HUGE difference, I just did them in my house and i was amazed

Wait just a second there. At what point did I stereotype college kids? I mentioned college-age neighbor and all of a sudden you follow with "college kids don't give a fvck" as if they're all the same. You said it, not me. And you're also the one who brought up kids vs. old fogies. At that point I threw it up in the topic summary. Go re-read.

It depends how much more you post, tbh.

Is this like a threat to get a mod to give me vacation? Just curious

EDIT: In all honesty hanoverphist is doing a much better job then I in conveying my POV any way, so I could almost step out. The problem is I'm tired and have very little work left for the day and need something to pass the time.

No I don't care if you get a vacation. It just meant the more you respond, the more I can and we'll see where it gets us. I thought you were enjoying this no? Too tired now? I still have 2.5 hours before game time.

No No I am enjoying it. So what about chain saws? Those piss you off? They kind of irritate me when I'm outside having a ciggerette sometimes around this time of year. All those pesky neighbors trimming trees and stuff in time for Spring.

How about them nasty jack hammers? I was out late last weekend (true story) and got pretty drunk. Got home, went to bed. Slept until like noon. Woke up because my neighbor was getting some concrete done. I was like CRAPPP. But to be honest, I always kind of looked at it as, "my fault for drinking so much"

My brother works nights a lot, sucks for him because he has to sleep during the day. A lot of people actually have this problem. I used to live in a duplex where the other person worked nights. I felt sorry for him but really, what can I do - not watch TV? I moved out really quick. The guy needed to fix this problem himself if you ask me

But my point that you quoted - why should rh71 be forced into spending money at someone else's expense? (Same as my rant earlier that my car was hit in a parking lot today - no one bothered to leave a note or take responsibility, so it comes out of my pocket now.)

Do you mean you couldn't hear your own WRX anymore from inside your house? Shame.

Man those leafblowers and lawnmowers going on during the summer are fricken annoying. BUT THEY ARE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT. While I don't like it, I'm not wishing the guy go die in a fire. It's not someone trying to be cool at the expense of everyone else. Or maybe you think he added it for +5hp. +5 sex appeal?

We'll never understand each others POV, but I think he should because the neighbors exhaust pisses him off. Thats why. What else should be done about it? If the law says he is OK then the only other thing you can do is change the law. Why not? With how many pointless laws are out there why not try and get another one passed. I'd say its pretty clear that loud exhaust pisses off more people then not so you shouldn't have any problem passing it.

No but we should push for legislation to make chainsaws quieter. Seriously, they have electric motors now that should be able to turn that blade through a tree and be quite a bit less noisey. Necessary? That just goes back to this whole NEED argument. Life shouldn't exist or be privey to things unless they are needed. For sure.

Frankly lawns aren't needed or necessary which would do away with lawnmowers just like that. WTF do we need lawns for?

Aesthetics. I wish nice exhausts were just aesthetics. You know, like the tint he has going for him that I'm not complaining about. I think that already gave him +2 cool.

I understand your POV, you're a car enthusiast, you enjoy the sound of an engine, etc., etc. My POV is that there is a place for that, and it's NOT in a community - it's out at the track or whatnot. In the community, my POV is that you're a nuisance that has no respect for those that DON'T share your point of view.

I read your post about your duplex, I lived in an apartment with the same situation. We specifically asked for a 1st floor place because we have kids, and kids run around. The apartment manager said, and I quote, "Oh, the walls and such are well insulated, you won't bother anybody." Fast forward and the downstairs neighbor was pounding on our door telling us to beat our kids and make them shut up. She worked night, she slept in the living room for some silly reason. We did everything in our power to try to keep the children quiet during the day. It's called respect and common courtesy. I'm not saying it was perfect, but we did what we could. And that included putting up with her kids that came home after school and blasted the stereo for an hour shaking everything in the house.

You're walking a slippery slope of no compromise in this case. Basically you're denying there is any problem with this behavior, where as it is clearly undesirable to others. You're asking unreasonably for the compromise for everyone to bend to YOUR will. Is that fair? Nope.

Studies have also shown that most driving related FATALITIES are speed related. Your point?

Show me some stats. I have read studies that show that to be inaccurate you just can't find any real data on the net. Go ahead and look and show me real data.

There are plenty of studies that have proved over the years that higher speed actually lowers accident rates. Here is one

People just assume that higher speed equals more fatal accidents and people perpetuate it even with no real data. As I said there is a study in the UK that shows 5% of FATAL accidents are from speeding. Accidents, in general #1 cause is alcohol. Period. Number 2 is weather, snow and/or rain which may also be speeding but the speeding is in relation to a higher speed then is safe for the driving conditions

http://www-fars.nhtsa.dot.gov/Trends/TrendsGeneral.aspx
http://www-fars.nhtsa.dot.gov/Trends/TrendsAlcohol.aspx

17,602 of the 43,000 or so fatal accidents in the US in 2006 were from alcohol.

stats are misleading. accident rates generally indicate frequency but not severity.

The fact is you're aero kit on the X5 looks quite sexy. I'm glad you said this because I was sitting here wondering about that.

Still, those german motors sound good IMO - its too bad exhaust (anything) on BMW's cost so much

Wait a minute though, if the guy has to work at 6:00 in the morning, and he has exhaust on his car - where is there a compromise other then better insulated windows?

Either a) rh71 gets his way and the exhaust comes off. b) the kid gets his way and keeps the exhaust. The part where he has to start it to go to work in the morning and drive off isn't an option. It has to be done.

I got the cops called on me for having loud parties as a dumbass teenager/20 something, and now I have ZERO issues doing the same. Don't make me listen to your crap, whether it's your car or that shit you call music. I don't want to hear it, I didn't ask to hear it, and if I do call the cops, they WILL do something about it. So if the cops ask you to turn it down or turn it off, do you still think it's not a problem.
Show some respect for your neighbors, it's not that hard to do. Suffering from Cranial-rectal inversion is curable, but only by you.

not to mention, if hes getting a lot of noise in through the windows, thats air loss also. better windows would seal those leaks up and save him some cash in the long run on electricity/ heating cooling costs.

If you must know, the car in white without aero looks crappy with the standard black bumper on all models. So crappy that I wouldn't have gotten the white. The aero was not just for cool, it adds to an already cool car. +50 imo. BTW, I added 20s to it just yesterday. You'd love it.

And you know the best part... how does it go... "AND NOBODY GOT HURT."

The cude most of all sound very untuned, like it's misfiring. And I prefer Strawberry-Rhubarb pie, chilled. 🙂

How about... rh71 pays for the guy to get a decent muffler? A lot cheaper than windows. rh71 gets reasonable quiet, the other guy gets a new muffler. Win win?

Hmm, good point. rh71? This is a very reasonable counterpoint... 🙂

Are we forgetting that I can hear this vehicle 2 blocks away? You think windows will make a difference, I've got a bridge to sell you. And also some style 212 19" wheels...
