I love the choice argument.

Lets say black people had a choice to be white so instead of accepting black people, we still persecuted them. So basically you are born black and choose to be white simply to blend in. Because you know, if you were to choose to stay black, you would get persecuted. Now does that make the persecution ok since the choice is there to hide who you truly are?

Then how come the same logic applies to gays and makes sense. Many gay people have to hide who they are and live in pain simply for fear of what would happen should they reveal what they truly are.

I don't read the paper, so I don't really care whether those announcements are in there. Just felt like responding on choice since it was brought up a lot the first page. I still can't understand the logic, because no one can prove to me that it is even an actual choice (like an example, I love girl#1 and guy#1 and I chose guy#1).

Your comparison is unrealistic, "Lets say" means that there is NOT a possibility of chosing what race your are born as. It is a 'HYPOTHETICAL' scenario and uncapable of becoming reality, unless you are Michael Jackson, who now has white looking skin but is still black. This means that you can't really change what GOD made to be no matter what. If homosexuality was in the plan then don't adopt or get a sperm donor or get a surrogate mother. Have sex with the "one you love" and make a baby. You can't! I wonder why?:Q

Also, white people may decided they want to be black to have bigger butts or bigger Oscar Meyers.😉

In short, the same logic does NOT apply, because there is no logic to begin with when one cannot chose race but can chose with whom to have sexual relations.

The denial of marriage to gays as a denial of human rights is questionable, as it depends on the definition. Marriage in most religions and cultures is the lifelong commitment between a man and a woman to raise a family. There is no reason to get married really outside of religion. Quite frankly, the only reason the government has legal mariages is so they can tax you, at least in my opinion. Is being a couple really an inherent human trait? I would say polygamists give doubt to that. So you can't really say that getting married is a human right. So what it boils down to is this: a.) There is a different type of "coupleship" to distinguish it from the traditional "marriage," b.) Make marriage a thing of the state and so the government can define it as they please, or c.) Remove marriage from government control, so people can get married as they want, by who they want, however they want it.

And I'd like to say legalizing polygamy may be quite of a problem, possibly even more so than marrying relatives, as the handling of divorces settlements, child ownership, and other such possible disputes would be magnified when there is a marriage with more than two people, making legal resolution highly touchy and extremely difficult.

no there are more reasons, off the top of my head insurance coverage, inheritence issues and important legal ones. remember that woman that got mauled to death by two huge dogs in san fransisco? her partner couldn't sue over wrongful death and stuff because she wasn't legally recognized as spouse.

If your read the animal channel reference you will see that I said "MOST", because I am well aware that there are other "FREAKS of Nature" that may not be human. Although if you know anything about monkeys you will also be aware that they are very closely related to humans! 🙂 But, most consider them a lower life form that doesn't know any better. You are also ignorant about Christianity. Christians believe in JESUS I do not. Go to a Christian Church sometime there are a LOT of homosexuals there.
