Astrpulse, normal and optimized, would error out within 3 seconds. Normal Seti would run. Optimized Seti would not even start a WU.

I had the option to NOT do Astropulse WUs. That seems like a solution 🙂

As for not being able to run the Optimized App ... that is a bummer 🙁

Also, who says we have to put everything we have into the gauntlet?
My GPU will continue to crunch F@H, etc.

Do I remember reading at the Guantlet site that the recommended team size was about 20 - with a max of 30?

I will still be crunching for F@H but 3 of my rigs will be switching to Seti for the Gauntlet. I just can't stop F@H, To much into it! 😀

OK, the poll now seems less needed: the Gauntlet recruiting period is over: we had to join before midnight between Sept 18 and Sept 19, and that hour has passed.
Team AnandTech has 25 members and we do not need to split the team. I like that because now we have a chance to win the Gauntlet. 🙂

But we should not rest on our laurels ...

Please add, asslaminate, borg, assimilate, computers to your accounts, increase the resources used by seti on your computers (e.g. resource share 95 for seti and 5 to some other or all other projects. or pause alla other projects ... If you have comps resting or retired, why not start them up for the duration of the Gauntlet? We will need all the crunching power we have - the other teams and crunchers will increase their crunching power too! :sun:

Hey SETI.NL, since TAS vs. the others won the poll I made a complete list of our 2 subteams!

TAS:
biodoc
Chocobo Navy
dajeepster
Drsignguy
Fardringle
GLeeM
Neurodog
petrusbroder
Rudy Toody
salvorhardin
Tom Philippart

The Others:
Assimilator1
Bryan Wallace
filibusterman
Ingleside
Lane42
minendo
mk
Ochadd
QuietDad
Rebel Alliance
Soggy
Starrider
Zim Hosein
Wiz

Maybe the team names should be??

TeAm Anandtech[Seti]

Current RAC= 83,818

TeAm Anandtech[TAS]

Current RAC= 166,819

RAC is from the Seti@home stats

It certainly is not an even split.

Is there a way to get a closer split?

It doesn't matter to me if I get switched 😕

It will even be less even since TAS is known to fire up everything they have for races and the others are probably already at their average or maximum production...

I can switch to the Seti TeAm.

I should be able to do 20+K per day. I switched one of my linux boxes over to XP so I could bring my other 9800GTX+ into the mix.

For the sub-team names I'll vote:

TeAm AnandTech[TAS] & TeAm AnandTech[The Others].

Actually I kinda like The Others.

If we look at the point totals at S@NL, the split looks even worse:

[TAS] = 871,300
[The Others] = 443,873

well... i won't be able to use the coffee pot for the next month.. it'll pop the circuit breaker :Q;

Well, if we want to win this Gauntlet, we need a strong TeAm, and the TeAm's Rally TeAm, the Team AnandTech Sentinels [a.k.a TAS] are such.
I think we could do worse ... but then all TAS:ers who have joined the gauntlet should crunch with TAS. If we (the whole TeAm, not only TAS) become less productive we may not win ... and less science will be crunched.

Please do not have any illusions: our dear and worthy opponents (The Windmills, OCForums, OC-UK and others) are probably not at their max and they will recruit, assimilate, borgh and borrow crunching power.
Or rather: it would surprise me very much if this race would not develop into a free-for-all ...

lol...your poor apartment complex. I can see them looking at the power bill now:

apt mgr: hmmm, our bill is about 87% higher than usual for october, I wonder why.... huh, this can't be right, we paid $4,788.12 for dajeepster's electricity this month!

 It should be interesting!!

There is one rule that we should all be aware of though.

If you flush a large cache of completed WUs at the start of the race, you could be disqualified.

They are watching for that!😉

Just don't look at the totals you see on this page: http://www.seti.nl/boinc_team....1&language=1&highlite=
For the result of "The others" is the result of the credits earned before and after the split.
While the total of TAS is only from after the split.

For acurate values you'll have to count up what you see on the team-stats page: http://www.seti.nl/boinc_user....&gauntlet=2&language=1

aad is now with the wooden shoes!

The spankers, S.....dastra (can't spell that team name from memory!), OC and the 2 netherlands teams will be tough to beat!!

<---- I've had a couple of these!😉

yeah... S(whateva)dastra has one person on their team with seven... I repeat SEVEN gtx295 in two computers alone

and OCforums is going to be really tough... considering that they have the #5 team that gets around 600K ppd :Q

uh oh... i've overloaded my AC unit... It couldn't handle the heat output on my computers... I have to shut down half my fleet til the AC gets fixed 🙁

I have some serious problems with 3 of my best crunchers: they keep loosing their wlan connection and won't reconnect on their own or only very rarely...

Does anyone know a software that makes them reconnect or any other advice for this problem? I used the software that came with the usb antennas, however it doesn't support my new wlan modemrouter...

I will be able to take a look at them on thursday, at least I'll get them in at the start of the race...

yeah, well, most supercomputer labs have more than one window unit to keep all that horsepower cool 😉
