unbelievable!!!:shocked::shocked:

and OCforums is going to be really tough... considering that they have the #5 team that gets around 600K ppd :Q

They are splitting into 2 teams (one strong/one weaker). The wild card for them is a bunch of folders are joining them for the race with some unknown amount of GPU power.

I may have to get another OEM copy of windows so I can bring my lowly 8800 GT into the race. Anyone have an 8800GT crunching seti? How do they do?

I've got my 8800GT crunching on my AMD 9500. It's not doing so well but I haven't had the chance to check why.

On another Ubuntu note, as soon as I copy the optimized app for my Ubuntu, I get the message that my "app_info.xml file doesn't have a version of Seti@home Enhanced" and doesn't do anything. Also says that no work is available for the applications you selected.. I'm missing something but not sure what...

I just checked the box "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" in my account and started receiving WU. Completion time is 95 hours on my Phenom II 940....

the 95 hours to completion will change as you start crunching... it's because there's no history yet... once you get history, that number will be smaller.... it's just an initial estimate.

I checked this computer out at seti and it is running Vista correct? The cpus and the 8800GT are crunching WUs but it looks as though you haven't install the optimized apps using the lunatics unified installer. When you run the installer, check the SSE2 or SSE3 (no real speed gain on AMD chips according to Cruch3r) and make sure you click the GPU box too (not "on" by default). AMD chips do not have SSSE3, so don't check that one. Once you have the optimized apps installed then go to our other gauntlet thread and follow the instructions I posted there to replace the cuda 2.2 DLL files with the 2.3 DLLs.

I checked out your Q6600 running vista 64 and that is crunching optimized apps (SSSE3).🙂

I checked this computer out and it looks like it's running ubuntu 9.04, right? It's crunching multibeam (MB) WUs (Seti enhanced ver 6.03) so it must be 32-bit Ubuntu (64-bit linux would be running ver 5.28).

Post the contents of your app_info.xml file and the name of your optimized app. Also, where did you get the optimized app?

EDIT: I can get you going crunching if you post the above info!🙂

Thanks Biodoc.

Here is the app content:

Hi Neurodog

Go to crucher3r's website and click to download the file called "AK V8 Linux x32 SSE3 Intel & AMD". Extract the file and open the folder "files to install". Copy the app "AK_V8_linux32_sse3" into your seti@home project folder. Make sure it's "executable" by right clicking on the app icon and choose properties and on one of the tabs there should be a check box for "executable". You can also do this from the command line in that directory:

chmod +x AK_V8_linux32_sse3

In the folder "files to install", there is also an app_info.xml file that needs one change: change the version # from 528 to 603 Or you can copy and paste below into a text editor and save into the seti@home project folder. Delete your old one.

This will run setiathome enhanced WUs (not astropulse <--life's too short for these WUs)

<app_info>
<app>
<name>setiathome_enhanced</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>AK_V8_linux32_sse3</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name>
<version_num>603</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>AK_V8_linux32_sse3</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>
<app_info>

EDIT: once the app and app-info.xml files are in the seti folder, stop and restart boinc

:beer:

Thanks Biodoc!

I've done the changes as you explained. so far so good.

Lets see if my Phenom can compete with one of your Q6600...:Q

Your phenom is doing a bit better than my Q6600's:thumbsup:

It's my GPU cards that are cranking out the points! The guys with the GTX260s and higher are REALLY cranking out the points!

Yea, they seem to be pretty snappy. With 7 of them, they also crank out the heat!🙂
