I leave Overdrive on, if that's what you're getting at 😉 It's pretty much impossible to hit 21 in my car. I've got synthetic fluids, I run slightly higher-than-spec PSI in my tires (32 front, 30 rear), clean air filter, fuel filter, throttle body, etc. 15mpg is about as good as it gets. Pretty piss poor for a 3.3L V6 with less than 200 hp.

mileage doesn't have as much to do with engine size and peak power as most people think.

We CAN but the car companies won't do it. Why? Lobbyists lobby congress like hell everytime they try to raise the mileage standards for vehicles. The land barges of the 50's and 60's got what SUV mileage is today. Passing laws requiring automakers to raise mileages worked - now our passenger cars have better mileage. All they need to do is do it again. But will they?: Probably not.

Something's wrong. Check that the O2 sensor is OK and that the catalytic converter isn't clogged. I used to get 21-22 mph on the freeway with my dad's V8 Explorer (averaged 18-19).

Well thanks to all those crooks at those super rich oil company fvcking up our public transportation system. We are about the worst in mass transit in the world.
 
Well if you get rid of it, how much are you going to be out? It's not like selling it and getting another car will be a 100% even trade.

If you sell it now, and say take a $3k hit since it's an SUV and gas prices are up, you'll only be saving $2k. I'd rather pay $1k a year for 5 years, than get kicked in the balls all at once for 3k.

High gas milage cars prices will be up, SUV down.

That's a lot of drivin' miles, but if you could handle it and could wait it out, get a small car like a Miata or Del Sol when it turns winter and no one will be using them due to the cold.

I got a good deal on it for $7500, I could probably sell it for the same or more (books for $9200).

Zenmer, after researching pathfinder/QX4 forums, 15 mpg is about the best I can expect. Yes, I know V8 explorers and other SUVS do better, but the 96+ Pathfinder / QX4s hover around 15mpg =(

company, and yes I paid for all that gas myself, we get a wopping 22 cents a mile

edit: and my dakota gets about 17-18mpg on the highway

The United States for the most part is much more spread out than Asian countries, making total bike transportation nearly impossible.
