Good. I've wanted $3/gallon for a while. I like to see ignorants educated, and grand economics aside, I think it would be an important lesson in finance for people who drive cars they can already barely afford. This would cost me $130/month extra in gas, but I'm willing to suffer a bit if it means the betterment of my neighbours and friends. It's for their own good.

Just topped off my tank at $2.05 a couple nights ago... don't know what it's up to now.

That guy who posted pics of his new apartment in Delaware... he's got it good. His work is like 500 meters outside his apartment complex. Man that's gotta be sweet.

Welcome to the world of tomorrow everyone!

As the price of crude oil start to get really high, we in the rest of the western world can lower our taxes and keep our prices at about the same of what we have now, YOU on the other hand has to get used to continously increasing gas prices.

Using 40% of the world's energy production is perhaps not such a good thing after all?

Yes, a bunch of socialist, leftist governments going lower taxes.

Exactly. The economies will grind to a halt if they don't and they know it, would it come to that. They have no other choice. Your government have no choice either, other than perhaps invade Iran and Saudi Arabia in the search for WMD.

;)

Joking aside, European countries need more import oil than the US. The US imports about 50% of its crude oil. Germany and France on the other hand, have to import almost all of their oil. So I really don't see the majority of western European countries to pay less at the pump than what we currently have, even in California. While the US drive too many pickups, which consume a lot of gas, people will pick more fuel efficient cars if they really think that gas is too expensive. So Americans still have a choice to drive more fuel efficient cars, while the Europeans are praying for tax reliefs from their government, good luck.

Though that's true, because of the rise in the Euro these Oil prices are hardly affecting them. At least not as much as it's affecting the US.

The issue with the rising oil/gas prices is hardly limited to how much extra it costs to fill your gas tank. Most people will be able to deal with the additional cost of filling up the tank. Yes, we'll gripe about it, but we can deal with it. The problem is that the price of gas is factored into just about everything in the economy, so as it climbs it might start seriously affecting the growth of the economy.

Certainly we're not at 'panic button' levels yet, but it's something to keep an eye on. Wall street certainly is. If this continues, we might have to 'liberate' Venezuela or Saudi Arabia soon to protect us from their WMD (oil).

With the Savings rate at practically 0, in order to cope with rising Oil prices other expenditures will need to be curtailed. That will have another negative effect as the current economy is structured around the spending habits of Consumers. As Consumers adjust their spending habits certain sectors in the economy will begin to lose out.

Some of you people who drive 15 miles a week - why?
Get a bike, that's 2 miles a day, which is easily done on a bike.
Unless you NEED a car (due to that 15 miles being a trip to the shops to buy groceries).

You know they are just price gouging....nothing is really kicking up prices other than the Greed of Exxon, Shell, BP.....etc.

Wait, you want oil prices to go up so the price of goods on pretty much everything will skyrocket just because you want to teach your friends and neighbors a lesson?

What school of thinking did you come from? Stop posting.

As with the other response to a post of mine, reading comprehension really is not your forte, is it? I stated clearly what I wanted, and you reiterated it with a question mark, but for what reason? Do I need to rephrase it? I thought I was pretty clear the first time.
We're heading towards $3 here so you guys will be at $4 in no time
Sweet!

it makes sense "if" the simply mark the price up by a percentage
too bad there's more to it than that

Well, they have no leg to stand on bitching about it while they drive a vehicle that gets 17 mpg, but to their defense people in Europe typically have much less need for driving a vast number of miles. The geography in the US is such that many of us rely on cars to a greater extent, and it's unavoidable, so at $2/gallon many americans will spend more on gas than fins at $6/gallon.

All the more reason to get and drive Economical vehicles that get could get 40 mpg but no, rich lard a$$ Americans have to make and drive monster SUVs that get 12 mpg or less. Way to go
