gas prices down for the - now 35th straight day - now under $3.71

Oil just rebounded $5.00+ on rheortic from Israel about Iran's nuclear program. Was down $1.xx now up $4.xx. Back to $128.xx.

I suspect that gas will level out soon if oil starts rising again.

Retail gas is still up almost a dollar in less than six months. Just because we've dropped slightly below the psychological barrier of $4.00/gallon doesn't mean much, except that our conditioning to higher gas prices is working.

I could possibly agree with that considering that there are people (even in this thread) now calling $3.90 "CHEAP".
 
I actually saw $3.99 yesterday, but it was at an Arco-AM/PM station where they charge you (IIRC) 45 cents to use an ATM card, so if you buy 10 gallons of gas, that raises the price by 4.5 cents...making their gas cost more than the 3 stations closest to them which were at $4.02/$4.03. The only way their prices make sense is if you only pay cash...or buy 20-30 gallons at a time.

You guys see what BP stations are doing? THey're charging MORE for credit card use, and "discounting" for cash/BP Card use. Their discount is the same price the gas stations across the street are charging.

You know how I read that sign when I saw it? "Leave and go across the street". Nice strategy there BP.

It's just a matter of time before they all start doing it. It does two things....it removed the 2 to 2.5% fees that the credit cards are charging per transaction (it might be time to lower the % fee's) and it causes customers to go into the store where they are likely to purchase some of the overpriced goods that the stations generally sell.

Oh, and oil came off it's high of $128 to settle in at the $125.75 (or so) rate....
 
where the hell do you guys live? i just saw 4.39 this morning at white plains, NY

i've said it before and i'll say it again, gas station operators DO NOT deserve any sympathy when they complain about high gas prices.

isn't the credit "surcharge" against visa/mastercard policy? just report those businesses to visa/mastercard and watch them lose their ability to accept credit cards. don't worry about discover... nobody accepts or uses discover 😉

Nothing illegal if they are charging a regular price for credit transactions but offering a discount for cash purchases.
 
When gas goes back down to $2/gallon, I will continute complaining about the cost of gas. Until it reaches $1.29 again.

its about there here in upstate as well


its been 4.04 for 87 oct for about a month now, it has not changed in a long ass time
