Not me, I squeezed by because of AFM. Although I rather would of payed the tax in exchange for a normal cam & lifters. I shut the AFM off in the tune anyway since it's more annoying than anything if you're not driving on a nearly flat road, which doesn't happen around here.
So many good choices to save money these days: Prius (regular, V, or C), Ford C-MAX hybrid, TDI Golf/Jetta, Escape 1.6L ecoboost.

Slitting your wrists is much cheaper for saving money.
1.6L? Just my blower is bigger than that!
I was just thinking the same thing. Amazing to think that there aren't many 4-bangers that are bigger than the blowers on cars. Are you running a 2.4 or 2.8L?
2.6, then don't even make the 2.2 or 2.4 any more.
I'm barely spinning the 2.6 for 17 psi as it is. There are 3.0-4.0L twin screws if you are running E85 or race gas and spinning them to 30 psi. A 2.8L in a 17 psi pump gas car would have a 5" upper pulley poking through the hood and would be spinning so slow it wouldn't "seal" well
I meant 2.3 or 2.9. I know those are popular choices in V community right now.
Must be nice to barely spin it for 17 psi. Mine is probably reaching warp speed at 15psi.
That doesn't even exist in the entirety of North America, neither does the Prius c yet 🙂Ford C-MAX hybrid,
This tax does not apply to minivans, sport utility vehicles, and pick-up trucks. Congress did not impose a gas guzzler tax on these vehicle types because in 1978, at the time the law was enacted, they represented a relatively small fraction of the overall fleet of passenger vehicles and were used more for business purposes than personal transportation.

Slow, slow, slow, and slow 🙁
For regular everyday/commuting cars though, you're right - plenty of great options now.
You don't have to drive a super econo box or hybrid to avoid the gas guzzler tax.
Gas Guzzler Tax Schedule from epa.gov
Any vehicle with a "combined" fuel economy of 22.5MPG. The combined number is calculated from the EPA MPG ratings for the vehicle at 55% city and 45% highway mileage. Also,
I say it is time to change this! Maybe make it tax deductible for those who are able to claim the vehicle for a business expense.
weird, I thought this was the whole point? To crack down on all those hedonist Americans driving their Escalades and F-350s for ep33n value?
Escalades and F-350s are excluded like all other trucks and SUVs. I get dinged for getting better gas mileage and putting less wear on the road than the pickup next to me.
