Latest news:
As the trade currently stands, the Celtics would send Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff, and two first-round picks to the Timberwolves for Garnett.
Al Jefferson is not included in the deal at the moment.
Yeah I saw that "report". I'd take it with a very large grain of salt. I'm going to assume it includes AJ, but if it doesn't thats a Babe Ruthian type of steal.
and you'd be alone? the deal makes no sense without jefferson. If Celtics keep Big Al, I'm gonna crap my pants in excitement.

Pierce and Ray Allen will not happily co-exist as there's only one basketball on the floor at a time. Adding Garnett gives them instant credibility, at least in the weak east. But you still have to figure that Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago and possibly Miami are all better teams than the new Celts. They'll make the playoffs as a 5 seed and probably get bounced in the first round.
Umm wow. I'd say they'd be a top 3 team guaranteed. I'm not convinced Cleveland will do much until they get real playes around Lebron. Miami with an aging Shaq is a bit of an unknown, Detroit is on the downside I think, and Chicago has some promise but has yet to live up to much.
I see absolutely no way they lose in the 1st round of the playoffs in the East. NONE.

Why didn't they trade Ray Allen/PP away? 3 stars is never going to work. 2 is just stretching it. PP and KG can work fine together. Allen and KG can work fine. PP, Allen, KG together will create trouble. But grats Celtic fans on selling your future for 3 years of losing the eastern conference finals.

lol.Having your 3 "stars" in their mid to late 30's probably isn't a recipe for success.
Ray Allen is 32, Garnett will be 31, and Pierce will be 30. Not that old. What has "youth" won for the celtics lately? I like the young guys but a lot of them need 3-4 more years to develop.

This is the same deal talked about in the week leading up to the draft, and Boston would not budge on Jefferson.
I don't know how he did it, but maybe McHale isn't such a fool after all. If this goes through, Minnesota fans should feel a lot more optimistic.
Oh, and I'm confident that will be a lottery pick. I don't see those 3 getting along for a whole season.

From what I read, there was a deal in place prior to the draft. Garnett and his agent didn't initially want to come to Boston. Not that Boston was reluctant to give up Jefferson.
After potential trades to LA and Phoenix have fallen through, and Boston picked up another shooter, I guess Garnett's changed his mind.

Detroit is starting a decline right now but is still a quality team. Miami is falling out of contention as Shaq gets older and more injured. Cleveland is a rising team but lacks any real scoring threat outside of Lebron.
New Jersey will be the consensus top team in the East if the big 3 stay healthy.

Are you on drugs?
Pierce, Ray, Garnet > anybody in the East.
That's a given. They're going to the Finals if they make the trade.

What have Pierce, Garnett and Ray ever won? Don't hurt yourself on that.
The success of the Spurs and the Pistons in recent years *should* have taught anyone with a brain that a bunch of whiney, shoot-first supposed superstars DON'T beat teams with solid role players, good D and balance. Hopefully someday you'll learn what everyone else already knows.

NJ? Riiiiiiiiight. What depth do they have anywhere in the 4/5 spot? They won't be able to run Kidd 30+ minutes a night forever, Carter isn't a winner, and Jefferson has been injury prone and hasn't ever developed a consistent shot.
