Yes, if you buy used! Go on Ebay and search for the 6770, 6750, 5770, and 5750. Those are capable of running 1080p if you leave the details low.

Also check the For Sale/Trade forums. There's a treasure trove of used stuff there. I see a 7750 going for $85 (which is an excellent price!)

Used and budget cards scale pretty well, so it doesn't matter so much. Everything selling for $75-85 should provide the appropriate amount of power. A GTX 460 1GB, for example, is basically as good as a 7770, as is a 6770.

There's a GTX 460 1GB on Ebay right now with on a couple hours left for $65 and one for sale for $85. Try checking that out.

Dragantoe's build will work well for sure, but it does cost more. The 7750 will run WoW smoothly, but not at high settings, while the 7850 gets more eye candy. So it's really up to you and your friend.

really the main point of the build is the motherboard and cpu, because those are actually really good deals, and the cpu is very underrated for how good it is

At that budget level, I think it might be time to try an APU. The GT 610 is pretty... bad to say the least.

Gee nice to know have fantastic taste. Haha just trying to keep in a $300 range. Don't need ram so that's a bonus. I thought 6000 series was a good improvement.

I am sticking to intel processor because I have ram designed for Intel builds. Patriot 8gb(2x4gb)

Definitely try to get at least a used Radeon X750 card or used GTX X50 card (where x is an integer). Anything lower than that will be too weak compared to a built in GPU.

there's no such thing. The ram will work in an AMD build as well. But whatever since intel is fine too. Just don't get one of those slow video cards you are posting and you'll be all set. I mean, you could go with a 6450 and it's faster than the HD graphics in the Celeron you're building with, but it's not faster by much. You really should be able to find a decent GPU by spending only a few bucks more. And it's very worth it. 6670, 5770, 6850, 7750, 460gt, etc. Those are good picks. Any less and you're wasting the cash and might as well use integrated.

You need Windows? Ouch, that makes your self-built budget effectively $200. I think I'd go used instead.

Grab this Dell Optiplex 960 with a Core 2, 4GB of RAM, and Windows 7 for $230 (free shipping). Then add a 7750 for $75 AR and you're at $305.

Ouch... friends don't get friends last-gen Celerons and H61 boards when Ivy Celerons and B75 are nearly the same cost:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Celeron G1610 2.6GHz Dual-Core Processor ($34.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: MSI B75MA-P45 Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($62.54 @ Outlet PC)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 160GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($35.99 @ Compuvest)
Case: Rosewill FBM-01 MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($29.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Antec 450W ATX12V Power Supply ($37.79 @ Amazon)
Total: $201.30
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Plus a 7750 from the FS/FT forum for $85 puts you at under $300! You're a student--take advantage of that to get Windows for free/very cheap. I assume you have a flash drive, so you can download Windows and then the drivers onto it instead of using the DVD burner.

mITX doesn't save money because the cases and mobos are more expensive. You'd save on shipping at best.

Search for your school here. If your school pops up and has Dreamspark Premium, that's a free copy of Win 7/8 (you may have to talk to someone at your school to register for an account to get it). Ask around if you have friends which went to other schools as well. Otherwise, you can at least get the price down to $70 for the full version by having a student email.

Now on my current build I have a 500gb Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 16MB Cache , could that be causing my computer to run slow? Do you think I could put a 1tb western digital black and a mushkin 40gb SSD as well? Or get that and take out my 500gb Seagate and use it in my friends build?
