not once, best buy media for 2 years. I get the gist of things. We both know the average gamer isn't 33. Unless you count cell phone games and flash media on the internet games. Console gamers are definitely not 33.

When was the last time you saw 40 y/o's playing wiisports like in those STUPID advertisements from Nintendo when some Asian guys come over on some hybrid and say 'wii would like to play' and then everyone is playing and looking like a fool... Man those actors can't even act. Or maybe they can but it must be hard pretending to be entertained by wiisports. ahh good times.

I did keep it on topic. Someone (not I) posted about a survey and so I posted how flawed it is.

No you didn't.

I fixed your flawed statement for you.

You haven't proved their survey wrong at all. To do so, you must point out a flaw in how it was derived. Whether the sample size was inappropriate for the survey, whether the selected candidates ended up with an unfair bias, etc.

You know what, go out... conduct a survey of your own and give us the answer. So in other words, put up or shut up.

And if you can read, the polygon count was raised. You keep debating because you want my attention. I pwned you with those pictures and anyone would agree.

Yes, I moused over, and I looked at every single picture they offered in that article. It's the same exact geometry, same textures (regardless of resolution), same everything. You edited your above post to say that only the weapon textures were upgraded from 256x256 to 512x512.....if you up-rez a picture of a turd, it's still a turd, only you can see it in intricate detail now. Other textures were only modified in compression settings.....whoopdy-do. They took 3-year old textures and highlighted them. That's all they did. IMO, that makes them look worse. It's sort of like a woman you see from far away.....she looks pretty hot. But as soon as she gets close and you can make out detail, she's ugly as hell. That's what they've done with Halo 2 in porting it to the PC.

It simply looks worse for the wear.

So Casiotech, what is your opinion on the lessened returns of the 360 to Gamestop?

Whether or not the average gamer is 33, you're experience working in Best Buy doesn't qualify you to debunk the survey. It might give you a slightly more informed opinion but last time I checked the majority of customers don't have long conversations with the checkout people about their plans for whatever they happen to be buying. This of course is based upon years of experience standing in line at multiple stores waiting to buy something and seeing thousands of people check out. I happen to agree with you(why does that make me feel dirty?) that the average console gamer wouldn't be 33 but I have absolutely no proof of that. For the record, I've seen plenty of people over 40 playing Wii Sports and enjoying it. None of them actually owned a Wii but they all had a blast playing it.

Nothing terribly important here, but just some non-flaming on the topic of older gamers:
My 55 year old dad is on his 4th or 5th time through LoZ: Twilight Princess on my brother's Wii. I don't understand why he keeps playing it, but Zelda games are traditionally the only games he'll start up and play on his own.

More confounding: Since he missed out on the GameCube version, I even got him LoZ: Windwaker last year for Christmas but he hasn't opened it, yet. It makes no sense to me, but he seems happy. We do play Wii sports when I am there. If I didn't move four states away maybe I'd be able to convince him to play something else. Next time I go home I'm hoping to get him interested in Mario Strikers Charged so we can play online.

From a consumer stand point, this study makes sense to me. I don't see why returns would go up since Microsoft extended the warranty and refunded people for repairs. On top of that, your average consumer will have the whole "It won't happen to me" mentality assuming they are aware of the defects in the first place. A lot of us internet savvy gamers often forget how many people out there are not as informed as we are about such things.

Thread

From within this thread alone is enough justification to give you a vacation. quoted areas are below.

This does not include the other recent threads within Console Gaming that you have recently participated in.

The attitude that you spew at others is not acceptable.

When you come back after a week or two (I will let you know after reviewing other threads), I would hope that you can have a more reasonable discussion with others.

A gamer is someone who plays consistantly, on current consoles. If you take into account someone who played frogger and mario or space invaders, than the average 'gamer' is 65 years old but that would be as retarded a survey as you are. You believe everything you read.

It doesn't count that some old guy played frogger 20 years ago either. Without Madden, the average age count would drop even more.

You know, I don't know anything about welfare and i'll bet you have about 4 kids just to qualify for that huge Section 8 help.

I'm not the one making 2 page long posts rambling about how true (when it's not) that survey is. I'm dumber from having to read your posts where every second word is idiot, dumb, stupid, troll because there is nothing insightful about your posts.

:yawn; you wouldn't know a good pwnage if it rammed you up your

Please forgive me since I'm new to this forum but is this retard exclusive to the console forum or does he troll all of them?

It's sort of a game of "whack a troll". He sticks his head up out of one hole and gets hammered, only to pop up somewhere else.

LOL...Awesome description!

So you mean that, redneck lady at walmart is going home to have a nice session of God of War II?

Or that fat, old guy is going to dance, dance, dance with DDR?

Or that 55 y/o guy wearing Armani is going to rock out with Guitar Hero?

yes these are all real observations I made whilst shopping at national retailers.

Sigh, why don't you realize that some mere observation in a store doesn't mean anything at all. Your views are incredibly biased and don't mean anything. Unless you knew every single person in the United States or committed your own survey, you have no idea what you're talking about. Just because your mom doesn't play games doesn't mean some other dude's mom doesn't play games.

because I used to work at target and best buy when I was a teenager. I worked in software/media in both and I never had a grown man talk to me about games in the 2 years that I was there unless it was a recommendation for his kid. That's proof enough.

yes, his two stores represent the entire world.

Yes, and I'm sure that the survey that mugs posted (which you all are getting your facts from) that included less than 2,000 households represents the entire world as well.

I'm not going to side with CasioTech and go against everyone, but I don't think such a small number of people surveyed could accurately represent the world, or even our country.

If they had surveyed my town like that last area, they would have gotten results much, much lower than that. I guarantee that.

I wouldn't trust a survey of my town to represent the world or our country at all, but from where I live, it seems like adults are much less likely to be gamers than some areas.

Also, did the survey mention these "games" being real video games (console games, etc), or did some of this "games" include things like cell phone games, online flash games, etc? Forgive my ignorance on that. If that survey said anything, I seemed to have skipped that part. If it included all types of games, that's also not helping us, as we're talking about console games and such.

I guess you missed the part where I said that presidential election polls only poll ~1000 people, and they have a margin of error of +/-3%. It's been nearly 10 years since I took a statistics class, but there are formulas that can tell you your margin of error based on your sample size.

Like I said, if you want to attack this statistic, I think you should question the wording of their questions. We don't know how they worded their questions, so we don't know what kind of games they're talking about.

I guess I did miss that. I would never go by a few thousand people out of millions to determine any sort of accurate statistics (regardless of how accurate they may claim to be).

It would have been nice to know what games they meant. That doesn't help at all.

Dude, wait until you take a statistics class in college before you discount the methods used by companies like Gallup and Nielsen. ;) You don't need a huge sample size to be accurate.
