Mafia II
Ohhh good call

Yeah, I've been thinking about playing through Mafia again.
I tried a couple of months ago, but quit after either the part where your supposed to murder the hooker that tell to leave town, or the ambush at the farmhouse. I forget which is further in.

Yeah, some of those missions were rather difficult.

This thread has inspired me. I believe my New Year's resolution will be "In 2010 I will not buy ANY game titled using the convention <name><#>".

lol I was thinking, sequesl are getting out of hand, but that resolution would limit you to about 2% of the AAA game market.

I am perfectly fine with that. I played Diablo. I doubt Diablo II or III bring that much more to the table. I played StarCraft. I doubt II will be much different. Sequels give developers a chance to charge you for a slightly better version of what you've already done. If I only pay for 2 or 3 games in 2010 b/c of this, that's fine; at least I know I'll be supporting developers with quasi-original ideas.

Diablo III, Guild Wars 2 (no subscription needed), Dragon Age, Alan Wake

might check out BF3, Crysis 2, and Modern Warfare 2 (when price drops)

hm... GW 2 and Dragon Age.... lol i forget those too.... but crysis 2 can suck my... ^&*(

I'm prolly not going to get Crysis 2; sure as hell didn't get the first one. I'm more interested in how that thing is going to perform and look.

Definitely looking forward to GW2. And Dragon Age: Origins was pushed back for a couple of weeks and they have been working on that game for what... 5 years? I hope it'll be ready by its launch, but we'll find out I guess!

Depends on the game. I know for me, Mass Effect was all about the story an I cant wait for 2 to continue it.

Diablo 3 and SC 3 that makes sense, but even in those cases, how many old school RTSes and Diablo like RPGs are there? I mean if Relic develops Homeworld 3, I would swallow it up in an instant. Those arent exactly dime a dozen games.

For some games like Modern Warfare 2 and HL2, yeah I could skip it, but stuff that is rare or maybe even genre defining, maybe not so bad an idea.

Actullay, D2 is better than D1 in just about every way. Check out the thread about the guy asking if anyone still plays D1. D3 I could see skipping until it comes down in price, but skipping D2 is doing a disservice to Blizzard in their heyday.

Starcraft 2 is the biggest one I'm waiting for. Other then that, not many games interest me now-a-days. Most of the titles I grew up loving went down the EA crap hole. (C&C, B&W, ect)
