I'm repeatedly taken aback that there's such a backlash against being a considerate person.
I realized why I'm out of touch. I've never owned an Xbox or played on Xbox live. All my online gaming was on PC and I am quick with the Mute function.
This seems to be the core of the GG-ers. They hate that they are being muted on a larger scale, but they don't consider that anything of value they might have to say is lost in the ether because when they started it was just this obnoxious spray of bullshit.
These kids need to reboot their movement to have any chance of being taken seriously. Luckily their overdeveloped egos will prevent any such introspection or even the briefest of reflections. This insures that they will continue on without changing and will remain societally muted.

Take a good, long look at this post, everyone, and know thy enemy. These are some fine signature language points that let you know you're dealing with a "progressive" (A.K.A. "intersectional feminist" or "Social Justice Warrior") as seen so often these days.
Like any religious zealot, they absorbed the dogma (like assuming white people just controlled everything, always) and will use that argument to silence a genuine critic. "Well, if you don't agree with me, you don't agree with my righteous group and therefore you must be a racist white supremacist." It fits that formula. No rational thought used, nor required.
Many of these key points of dogma are even contradictory, guaranteeing a conflict with most normal-thinking people. Fat-shaming makes a good example of one of their broken dogmas; if you don't find a fat woman attractive (women only, men are excluded because equality) you're an evil fat-shamer. If you DO find her attractive, you're an evil fetishizer.

The "progressive stack" is the most disgusting of their recently-created beliefs. A person is assigned a value of human life depending on how highly "oppressed" they must be, according to blood traits. The darker your skin, the more points you get. Women get more points than men. Handicaps beat the able-bodied. And oddly, the tippy-top of their stack goes to anyone muslim. The right to speak first at events they can control (or other goodies to be had) is given to those with the most oppression points because they believe it's somehow correcting the wrongs of the evil, evil, evil white cisgendered male scum of the universe who is to blame for all wrongs.
No amount of arguing will change the mind of a die-hard progressive... very few have ever left their ranks.
This is what the continuing argument over gamergate has consisted mostly of - a bunch of corrupt, colluding feminists and "journalists" who tried to cover up their actions by going on the attack. Each time they falsely accuse their gamer audience of wrongdoings, the gamers staunchly defend against the claim (usually with crushing evidence.) And every. single. time. the progressives have come back attacking with the same routine of false accusation and tears but more emphasis and emotion than before. Not facts, emotion.
Why are they still doing it? Because sometimes it works, and the soft-hearted want to believe a crying person HAS been bullied (even if the crying person is often the bully themselves.) This has led to some notable examples of prominent group leaders crying for dollars, sobbing for patreon donations, and begging for someone to stop the big ol' meanies who made her sad on the internet.
And the goofballs fighting for censorship are so tied up with their zealotry they can't realize that a restriction of freedoms will eventually mean the SAME restriction on their own personal freedoms... but hey, they're too caught up in the heat of the moment to see that far ahead. I don't think you realize the same people have been saying these same things and generally predicting the demise of society as a consequence for quite a while now, ever since the first signs of progressive thinking. Consider that the longer they do this and predictions don't pan out the worse it looks for them and the smaller their gatherings get over the years, as a natural outcome of how human society works. You can't really blame that on anyone but them, and ponder what "useful idiot" means in that context.

This is generally the same group that cast a sullen gaze at the southern gentry or similar classes above them back in the day, but were thrown a bone that even if they're not bourgeois at least they weren't black. Those privileges have been slowly eroding, so said group increasing see those they expect at the back of the bus ahead of them in line. Not surprisingly this is a great culture shock, so the natural rationalization is others didn't get there on merit, like they themselves must've. Otherwise what's been said about privilege becomes undeniably true.
In short, it rather makes sense that those we see short on merit here are where they are, and complain about that position as they do.
Is this garbage still alive? I like to check this thread from time to time to see how devolved the thread can get, it seems to have hit rock bottom a while ago but it keeps moving forward. I find it a great source of entertainment.
