Interested in what the real explanation for this ends up being. I really doubt Twitter is just randomly censoring a minuscule portion of the many tweets that have #gamergate in them.

#GamerGate was only ever one aspect of the censorship under the guise of "anti harassment" campaigns, but its the one which would fight back, and its been a trend since twitter exposed just how in bed with these types they were when they partnered with that feminist group "wam" over moderation.

As for McIntosh, his words come out of Anita's mouth, so unfortunately yes there are enough who do.

Well, it's a good thing we live in the real world where daydreams and wishing doesn't actually cause physical harm. If we did, all the Kardashians would have been Force-choked to death by now (and that would be a terrible shame).

So because some small number of people do things like this attack a broad group over sharing other ideological beliefs with these people?

We know what you mean by "attack", I've already covered that.

Someone says something like "men can't experience sexism" or talks about how men as a group need to bear responsibility for rape or whatever, so you call them an SJW... okay. How many of these people do you seriously think want to SWAT people, send death threats, and try to make others lose their job. Because my impression is most of them are critical of it and don't tolerate it, let alone partake in it.

You're not being any better than the media who says constantly that GamerGate is a hate group because they connect it to some anons who do things like this. I disagree with much of the ideology and philosophy that's become mainstream, especially in online media, but encouraging this kind of abuse is not part of the popular platform.

Again, I don't know what happened to you specifically, I'll go back and find it in this thread later, but you really shouldn't let the actions of a few color how you treat the many. Defend yourself from whatever actually comes up if you have to, but going on the offensive against with this mentality seems terrible.

See, in GG if someone doxes, SWATs, or otherwise takes matters beyond debate (which can be heated) they're shunned, anathematized. That's not how we roll, you will be denounced. Social Justice? No, they love their activist White Knights, they're useful idiots (easily replaceable), and a good way to silence those who oppose them without getting their hands dirty. I've yet to see any of the SJ leaders in this (Quinn, Fish, Wu, Chu, McIntosh, Sarkeesian, etc) condemn any of the attacks done in their name or the name of their movement.

First I thought it was about gaming journalism ethics.. A lot of what's posted in these links are about Reddit and twitter (two privately owned and operated companies, much like these forums we all love) setting their own standards on what's allowed and calling it censorship. I haven't sat through the entire thing, I have no plans on sitting through the entire thing, not because I'm unwilling to have an open mind, but because it's OVER 3 HOURS LONG. I'm not sure I could stay awake through it as it's already a very dry subject. If he did change it, please time stamp where he did and I'll look at it then. I don't need hours upon hours of filler to see his point.

Also being a Progressive, and abandoning liberalism, it's a path you've been on for a very long time. When you start by letting the ends justify the means, accepting what people within your movement do (not just think), you set yourself up for all sorts negative thoughts and feelings directed towards you. As for 3 hour documentaries, its 1.5 hours at 2x speed, option appears under chrome, other browsers may have caught up by now on that..I haven't checked.

Outlets for speech matters, this is a forum, social media is simply on a different scale, when underhanded censorship hits those platforms, the effects are very negative for society.

Personally, I'd love the opportunity to debate others who have positions with several rational flaws. But they're still something. People who want to silence their opponents are just determined to have all control over a narrative, I can't believe how many people don't see this.

He just knows that in any formal debate setting all the tools he's been using are off limits, they are invalid...so to save face he pretends to accept the challenge for an absurd amount of money... You won't find consistency with these people...
