You didn't even know who she was until yesterday. One of the most vocal people on the whole issue driving more media coverage than anyone else and you didn't know who she was. Yet you so easily ridicule and judge people over this. Over something you clearly know next to nothing about.

So you go and google it and suddenly you're an authority, and you instantly believe that her being trans is some GamerGate lie despite a ton of evidence to the contrary because some other probably very biased person you read thinks it must be so and you swallowed it uncritically. Don't even try to twist this into being about possibilities now, that's clearly how you put it. All the while you don't even seem to understand how "how dare you spread these malicious rumors about her being trans" and "so what if she's trans?" aren't anywhere close to the same reaction and one reflects a lot worse on someone than the other.

And you can fuck off with calling people "gator" as a retort in an argument like it's a fucking slur, all because someone says something that isn't 100% on your ignorantly formed narrative. Maybe your oh so self-righteous disdain is part of the problem.

Pretty much everyone has the potential to become resentful towards others. First towards their beliefs, because it's hard to try to understand where someone's coming when you disagree with them. Then because of who they associate with. Then because of what they intrinsically are. It happens over and over again. The worst place to be is thinking that you're part of the universally oppressed and your hated group is part of the universally oppressors, because everyone can become both. When I see myself starting to think like this it starts getting scary.

So because some small number of people do things like this attack a broad group over sharing other ideological beliefs with these people?

Someone says something like "men can't experience sexism" or talks about how men as a group need to bear responsibility for rape or whatever, so you call them an SJW... okay. How many of these people do you seriously think want to SWAT people, send death threats, and try to make others lose their job. Because my impression is most of them are critical of it and don't tolerate it, let alone partake in it.

You're not being any better than the media who says constantly that GamerGate is a hate group because they connect it to some anons who do things like this. I disagree with much of the ideology and philosophy that's become mainstream, especially in online media, but encouraging this kind of abuse is not part of the popular platform.

Again, I don't know what happened to you specifically, I'll go back and find it in this thread later, but you really shouldn't let the actions of a few color how you treat the many. Defend yourself from whatever actually comes up if you have to, but going on the offensive against with this mentality seems terrible.
