Don't count the PS2 out. With games like Devil May Cry, Silent Hill 2, Grand Turismo 3, Spyhunter (awesome followup to the original), and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, it'll give the xBox and Gamecube a fight. The xBox appears almost to be targeting the FPS crowd rather than go for general gaming. The Gamecube will be going for kids. But the PS2 _WILL_ have the games most people are looking for. The only game I want to play that is xBox exclusive is Project Gotham, because I love MSR on the DC, no way in hell is it going to be worth plunking down cash for an xBox though.

Expect some major support for the Gamecube now that they have 1.5GB worth of space to play with.

<< if I want to play pc games, or PC like games, I'll play them on my damn PC.

X-Box is gonna fail hardcore. It flopped big time at E3. The oddworld game looked ok, but it was running at 15 FPS!!!! LOL

And Halo looked ok, but it was like only 15 FPS as well. What the hell was microsoft thinking showing crap like that? And then the damn thing crashed on them.

heheh LOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOL

Please provide FACTS! Not your fan boy opinions. How did the Xbox Flop? Unless you've been to E3 and played it, then you should provide some links.

Everyone who played it never mentioned the frame rate. Plus they were running on XDK's, not x-Box console dumb ass.

Again, the XDK crashed on a "BETA" unfinished game. Get your facts straight.

I dont feel like linking to few hundred games, but go to xbox.ig.com and cube.ign.com and check out the games. Xbos is NOT going for FPS only games and the Game Cube is NOT going for kiddy games. Geez...

<< I would think around here there would be more support for the x-box. After all, it is running PC hardware, and will have PC developers working for it. >>

This statement struck me as funny. The argument used to be that consoles were better than PCs for games because their hardware was to designed to do just that, play games, and PC hardware isn't really. Now people are saying that a PC that happens to sit next to your TV is. WTF? Software is where the money is anyway, so why even develop the Xbox. Just release the games for the PC.

Honestly?

I think the GameCube will come out ahead. Why? Couple reasons.
 • The GameBoy Advance has sold 500,000 units in its first week w/ mediocre advertisement. And you can bet that at least 90% of those who bought the GBA will also buy a gamecube
 • Nintendo knows what their doing. Remeber the N64 launch? Kids will drive their parents nuts untill they buy one for them.
 • And of course, Franchises. The Big N's got Donkey Kong, Pokemon, Zelda, and most importantly Mario. All these names are easily recognizable by Joe Shmoe, but not too many people know Solid Snake, etc. .

But hey, you can never predict the future perfectly, at least, not yet 😀

<< The two biggest developers that they won't have are Rare and Nintendo, who, in my mind, are unrivaled when ti comes to putting out the best games. >>

Sega is the best game developer in the world.
>>

Biggest? Maybe. Probably. However I said "best" games, not the most games. I'll take quality over quantity any day.

<< What new games are nintendo offering that arent just sequels of what they offered at the beggining of n64's time >>

Kameo: Elements of Power
Metroid Prime
Pikmin
Eternal Darkness

Then there are other games that the chracters were on N64, but the GC game for them is completely different:
Luigi's Mansion
Star Fox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet

Then there are the games that are straight sequels:
Donkey Kong Racing
Wave Race: Blue Storm
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron 2

well not only does it come down to the games, but also whoever sells the most units. microsoft has already said that they worry about their system having broadband. there just might not be enough people wanting it yet or have access to it.

nintendo plans on having about 1.5x as many units availible as msft if i remember right. maybe a little more. xbox has too many specific interest games, too hardcore. nintendo has games for everyone. you cant survive on having a niche product with other big hitters out there.

My vote is for G-Cube, but in reality I will either buy both or none. I also think the PS2 people need to get their act toogether.

Sega takes the cake in quality and quantity.

<< Sega takes the cake in quality and quantity. >>

I have to agree. Sega has proven time and time again that they could make an A+ game in ANY genre, while at the same time inventing completley new ones. Sure sometimes a few bad games fall through the cracks, but overall they are superb.

<< How about combined they render the PS2 useless? >>

Well, probably not. You guys don't understand the way the average consumers mind works. They know the PSX was good, therefore the PS2 is also the best. Plus they probably already have a PS2. They won't be getting a new one.

<< Xbox is more powerful hardwarewise. >>

Right, if you're an idiot and thing more mhz=more powerful.

<< 1. the xbox is easier to program than the gamecube and the ps2 >>

Well, easier than the PS2? Yes. Gamecube? No. The Gamecube is supposedly insanely easy to program for.

<< I would think around here there would be more support for the x-box. After all, it is running PC hardware, and will have PC developers working for it. >>

Exactly, why get an XBox when almost all of the games will be ported over to the PC?

<< and a mother-of-all NFL game >>

Yes, we call this game Madden, and it will be on all 3...so...🙂

<< i sincerely hope xbox slams home and blows gcube out of the water.. >>

Keep hoping 🙂

For my final thoughts....I think the Gamecube is superior to the XBox. But, what makes a console is games. And the systems will have MANY of the same games from 3rd parties. So...what's left? The controller is important. I hate the look of the XBox controller. The Gamecube looks like its pretty good. I haven't used either, so I don't know, but from looks I'd say the Cube's will be more comforable/easy to use. Also, don't forget about the Playstation 2. You guys have forgotten about the fact that the PS2 has a huge learning curve to code for. So games will become better and better and better for the PS2, you can't judge by the first generation. Just take a look at GT3. I read an article about why the PS2 is so hard to code for, it is because the emotion engine uses these vector units, which are incredibally powerful, but different, so deveopers didn't really know how to use them. The first generation games didn't really use them at all, and even games like GT3 are only heavily utilizing one of them. So, you can't count it out. I think the Gamecube will be the best all-around console, but I think the PS2 will sell the most, just because the average consumer is dumb.

It would be pretty funny to see a BSOD on a console, go XBox, hehe. I think the Gamecube will be cool in its games, more cartoonish I guess. With the XBox having more power and more comptuer type games. Hard to say which I am going to want, both look pretty good 🙁

It wasn't an XBox that crashed, it was the XDK. And what's with this generalization that Gamecube games will be cartoony?? Have you forgotten Rogue Squadron already? And Metroid doesn't look cartoony. Nor do many of the other games. Also, why does everyone think the XBox is more powerful?? All we know is that it has higher MHz, which doesn't mean anything whatsoever.

The graphics processor in the Xbox is pretty sweet.

This is borrrring.... and the Gamecube crashed as well at E3. I ought to know.. I was looking right at it. The PS2 also had lockups.. big deal.

<< I told myself I'd be out of the console market, but after seeing Zelda screen shots, I have to buy a game cube. >>

The #1 reason why I will buy a Gamecube.

Yup...that's what happens at a show when you are running beta software. Its not like its a big deal....some people made a big deal out of the xbox one cause it supposedly was a BSOD or a Boot screen or something like that, and they didn't realize that it was not an actual xbox that crashed.

"The graphics processor in the Xbox is pretty sweet."

Bah, it's a NV20 with an extra T&L unit, overclocked 50Mhz. The next GeForce card will smoke it and then some.

Yea, but so is flipper, which we don't know near as much about.

Mass histeria among fanboys. I think its safe to say both systems have enough juice to power the next generation games (graphics wise).

See what I mean?
