Guy is a moron.
Wow, what a great argument you made. The youtube guy utilizes details to support his case and make a point, and you reply with 4 elementary-school words. You're the debate king.
Lets consider that MS and Sony have seen the successes of the Wii in the casual gaming market.
MS is trying (even if they are failing) to broaden their appeal to a wider variety of gamers, and markets (i.e. Japan).
Now sure, they may not be there yet, but they already see the value of expanding outside the market of core gamers and into the casual arena like Nintendo have managed with the Wii.
This guy is saying that MS and Sony are focusing only on core gamers and Nintendo will be the only ones to survive when that market dries up, but they (MS and Sony) are already making efforts to enter into that market and avoid the very situation he is claiming they are heading towards.
Hence, he is a moron for saying the console market is going to do exactly what the comic book market did, because they are already trying to avoid that.
Also, consoles aren't all just toys, which is another thing MS and Sony are trying to get out of. They are trying to give people a reason to buy them beyond just playing games, such as the PS3 being a good Bluray player as well. And it seems a reasonable number of people are particularly attracted to the PS3 because of that element, meaning it's a home entertainment device as well as a "toy".
MS and Sony are both trying to push into new markets (casuals and females) rather than sticking with their core markets. Whether they eventually succeed or not is another matter, but they are trying. They are also trying to position their consoles as more than just toys on which to play video games by adding more multimedia features such as the ability to buy/rent movies and watch them on the TV, the ability (in the case of the PS3) to play Bluray films.
This guy seems to think the only purpose of the PS3 and Xbox 360 is to play games, and the only market Sony and MS care about is hardcore gamers. He is wrong.
