Going from the incident with sansa of her bedding to the selling of a kid and a burning of another.

Stay classy. 😉

Also I also felt the dragons need to level up asap.

Martin seems to like killing off favorite characters. I guess that's a nice change from the standard Hollywood bullshit we're used to but after a while it becomes almost formulaic.

Martin didn't write this episode, in fact he doesn't have any writing credits to his name this season, hell, the last episode GRRM wrote was the 2nd episode of season 4.

David Benioff & D. B. Weiss are in the driver seat for the show, blame them.

Well, it looks like all those people who were quick to give Stannis father of the year awards earlier in the season when he made his little "you are my daughter" speech can return to their regularly scheduled routine of fucking themselves. Does Davos keep following him after this? Because four fingers is one thing. How do you follow someone who straight up sacrifices his own daughter? You can't. Stannis will legitimately kill any single human being who isn't Stannis if it has the potential to benefit him in the slightest; that's not a quality you want in a ruler. He will kill you if he thinks he might get a cheese Danish out of it. No thanks.

I was watching the show with my brother and his wife and when Drogon showed up, the women in the room straight up cheered. Also me. Because, fuck, we deserve more goddamn dragon barbecues. But seriously, how easy is it to hurt a dragon? A couple random spears is doing serious damage? How the fuck did the Targaryens ever conquer Westeros on that? Was it before archery was invented? Did they have thousands? Were the dragons approximately the size and general shape of Greenland? Something's not squaring with this equation. If this is what dragon combat looks like, then dragons versus ice zombies is shaping up to be a major letdown. It's like the dragons will show up in the North, bitch about the cold, sneeze and light their own troops on fire and then crash into a frozen lake and die because they suck. BE BETTER DRAGONS.
I thought it was pretty clear that the only reason Drogon was down there getting speared was because he was waiting for Danny to climb on. She had to see him getting speared to figure that out.

Wow, the kid burning scene was probably the hardest thing to watch in the entire show. 🙁

Anyone else have The Neverending Story theme song playing in their head at the end there?

KT

it was announced before the season that their story would not appear all this season. Their story is completely caught up with the books or somesuch, after the end of season 4.

So? That shouldn't stop them from furthering their storyline in the show, didn't it already go "beyond the books" when Tyrion connected with Dany? Seems like they furthered it even more after last night too.

A couple things: he only killed her when things were at their bleakest, until then he squashed ALL attempts for Melisande to sway him. Also, I would contest that his value and fairness of a ruler is directly tied to the methods he uses to become that ruler. Yes he just did something unfathomable to further his goal of getting the throne but that doesn't mean he would be a horrible king on the level of the Mad King or Joffrey, to be honest he always "looked the part" to me and showed that he is intelligent, not the type of rule unfairly.

Dude, an adult green dragon is only CR 13.

The Wyvern, or Green Dragon.

Also the DM was playing him dumb; fly the fucker right over the group and make them javelin UP not down.... jeez.

Just be happy he's a green dragon and not some D&D Wyvern at CR 6

Also, even if he was full-dragon hide when 200 dudes are throwing javelins; someone's going to double crit eventually.

Dude, everyone knows green dragons don't breathe fire. Only red dragons 😛

I'd be a horrible Stannis. Melisanda could sway me all day long with those tata's :whiste:

I think the Dragon getting pierced by spears was a result of it still being relatively young and small. I assume it's still got a lot of growing and scale hardening to do.

The Targaryans didn't take down Harrenhal on weak ass dragons like the one they showed last night.

from what we've seen on the show, though, she hasn't really even researched anything with regards to how to control them.... maybe Tyrion will help change that.

god knows, pairing up Tyrion and Dany has been the first time I've actually been interested in her plot-line in either the books or the tv show.

What was that green explosive liquid called? Night fire?

Would be cool if the green one sprayed that stuff.

I was hoping that mother of the year was going to throw herself on the fire as well. Now we get to hear more of her bitching.

This. While he's the biggest of the 3 she has, he's barely big enough to ride. A lot more growing to be had before he starts melting castles.

Was disappointed in the way the show makes Stannis out to be a giant douche nozzle this episode. He's crazy, but not this crazy.

Bran's story anyway. Rickon and Osha (and their direwolf Shaggydog) were separated from them and went to seek refuge with Greatjon Umber. So maybe they could be seen again.

They're supposed to be one of the few northern houses that were Stark bannermen that didn't fall at the red wedding. Which makes it weird that Stannis didn't solicit them for aid.

Does Davos keep following him after this? Because four fingers is one thing. How do you follow someone who straight up sacrifices his own daughter? You can't.

Davos thought Stannis sacrificing his nephew Gendry was very wrong, he was willing to risk his life to save him, but when all was said and done he still returned to Stannis's side. And I think he would have stayed there even if Gendry was sacrificed.

But I don't think he'll return to Stannis now (and in fact, I don't think Stannis will even risk having him if he did), not so much because of how awful of a person he is but because of how much he cared for Shireen. This was a deep betrayal to Davos personally and I don't see him forgiving it.

I could see Davos taking up the black instead.

I don't want to justify what he did but I think it's a little more than him sacrificing anything for his own gain.. at this point Stannis seems to think that he's he only hope in leading the country against the White Walkers. He's seen visions suggesting as much (from a reputable source) and it's not totally without merit since the other factions vying for power don't seem to care at all about the threat. So he really thinks this is the only way they'll have any shot at surviving.

But I don't know how you can put your faith in someone who requires you to perform such cruel sacrifices to help you. The Lord of Light, assuming it's a real god and not just some primal force of magic, is the worst villain here. Give in to his sick requirements and who knows what he'll demand in the future.

black dragon = acid dragon
armor class = -10 or something like that

you need to roll a 20 for non-magical weapons to do dmg

or is that for Gold dragons?

yeah, but that was last season. Tyrion and Dany is this season. Don't ask me though--that was their explanation.

I think it's been pretty obvious that Shireen would be sacrificed ever since Melisandre brought it up. I don't know why anyone thought differently - they wouldn't bring up something like that unless it's going to happen at some point.

I also didn't understand the love for Stannis. The guy is obviously a little more moral than Cersei, but it's plain to see that he'll do whatever it takes to gain the throne. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him die at Winterfell (to give his character a big F U) and have Jon take over Stannis's army to reclaim his homeland.

They did build it up by having Stannis drag them out into the field, and have much more development of her character this season.

I think Bran's storyline has outpaced the rest of the tv show as well, they need the others to catch up before Bran's continuation fits back in.

Davos is going to revenge Shireen by killing Melisanda. He already half believed that she was somehow controlling Stannis, and now he is going to be sure of it.

People complaining about Friend Zone's fighting style: He's also about 25 years older than everyone else in the competition.

I also didn't understand the love for Stannis.
Same here. I've always seen him as a totally nuts cult member, with that woman as the cult leader.

Just me or
is Tyrion pretty much fucked at this point? While the scene with our Khaleesi riding to safety on her dragon was cool visually, she did leave the rest of them there to die. As the Sons of the Harpies have been really good at their gorilla style war. I have a hard time believing they could chase her and the dragon out of the arena and then say fuck it and leave her council alone. There were still more than enough of them to kill everyone left behind.

Also watching that kid get burned alive was so hard to watch. I kept hoping that Stannis would stop it. Never though crazy mother would the voice of reason in it.

^^ I dunno, I'm guessing the remaining Harpies that weren't killed or burned, fled at that point. Their objective was gone, no need to risk dying fighting Jorah and a handful of Unsullied.

What's his name saying "just making sure things are in order" before the games led me to believe he set the whole thing up anyways. But then he died in the chaos, so who knows.

I also thought the Harpies goal was to re-instate the masters as rulers of the city? It seemed like they were killing masters in the attack (the colorful outfits)
