Depends where you are playing. In Vegas (and elsewhere) you hold your cards. This makes things slightly more difficult for card counters.

Unless you want to learn how to count cards, the easiest way to make bets where the odds are most in your favor is to play craps. Find a $5 minimum table and make minimum bets on the Pass and Come lines. After the come-out roll put the maximum odds behind your original bet. Play as many simultaneous bets as you are comfortable with. Forget about all other bets on the table; they are for suckers.

Not everywhere in Vegas do you hold your cards. In fact most places I have played blackjack at in Vegas, you do not hold them at all.

But buying the 6 and 8 is not optimal strategy. After taking maximum odds on your pass line bet, your next bet should be the come bet followed by maximum odds on that number. Unfortunately, the optimal way to play is also the most boring way to play. That's what the casino banks on.

Best game to play is low limit poker.

You can play almost the whole day with $100... limited upside and also limited downside..

You need to learn how to play though, low limit is different from no limit.

You hold the cards when you aren't being dealt from a shoe, usually single deck.
And they tinker with the odds on single deck by not paying 1.5-1 on blackjack.

Edit: yeah, like Brackis said, 1.5-1. I am tired, cut me a break!

Never play the single deck game where the blackjack is payout is not a 1.5 return, it is the worst of all blackjack versions to play based on odss.

That's easier said than done, though. I played in Vegas during a recent trip and saw people buying in for $100 at 2/4 and 3/6 and losing it all in 45 minutes or so. Pretty pathetic really. One guy in particular who was obviously a newb sat down and called down an initial raiser and even tried re-raising on the river. The newb turned over 22 while the initial raiser had QQ. The board was J high. He claimed he thought the raiser was bluffing.

Regardless, playing smart poker will definitely give you the most entertainment for your $. However, I'm not sure low-limit is really that beatable when you take into account the rake + dealer tip.

The best odds at the casino are at the craps table. Black Jack is next on the list.

Nothing gets the adrenaline pumping like a hot craps table when you have a bazillion chips all over the board and everything other than 7 makes you money...

I believe you have that backwards. I always thought BJ was first and craps was 2nd. Craps is by far the most exciting game. if you know how to bet it you can have a blast and win big. Conversely you can lose quick.

There are bets at the craps table that give you true odds (behind the line). If you find a casino that let's you go 5x, you really upo your net odds.

Yea I figured that was the factor. But there is really only 1 kind of BJ bet and overall it is the best odds. Craps has so many bets that overall the odds would be worse. But a straight pass line with 5x odds is the best bet in the building.

you gotta be kidding me right? craps? craps is extremely fun to play but i didnt know that it has the best odds of winning.

i thought baccarat had the best odds, since you can either go banker or player, and push if there is a tie. casionos have a slight edge in this game by paying the banker 5% commision. other than that, its pretty close to 50/50.

second was blackjack in odds.

Until you get to Binions where they had a $1 table with 100x odds. After that day I stopped telling people to always play max odds! It is all about being able to weather the swing.

So Am I right? Unless you find a table with more than 5x and are willing to risk that much then 5x is the best?

Craps! They usually have lessons in the morning at the bigger casinos. Ask around when you get there.

Put 5x odds down on at least your pass line bet, and you'll probably do okay. Good luck! :)

I was just in Vegas last weekend, and I made $300 in 1 hour of playing craps. I stopped gambling after that and just chilled for a bit, and then blew it all at a strip club

Success at craps involves a couple of things:
1. a hot roller who NEVER hits a seven
2. a bank roll to cover your swings

If you are on a $5 table with 5X odds and are making steady come bets, you need $500 MINIMUM to stand a few consecutive drawn out losers (when you get several come bets on the table and then get a seven before any of them pay).

Eventually, a roller with get a point and neither roll the point or a seven for 10-20 rolls. When that happens, it is party time...

Craps technically has the best odds, but you've got to play a pretty dull style of craps to achieve them. The side bets are half the fun....and the majority of your losses :D

I think using your gambling money for a prostitute will make you feel like winner the most.

Have you ever been to a casino and played blackjack? You do NOT hold your cards unless it is single deck, maybe.

I'm with ya on craps. It is mucho fun and can pay well. But you need a good bankroll to play. Just search on craps strategy - there are tons.
