true, but who watches a samsung event? As much as I love the galaxy and note phones I never watch their event. And as much as I dislike apple, I try to catch most of their events.

the phone is entire sealed up so it can hold its water resistant properties.

To do something simple like replace the battery, you would need to take it into a service shop now as they need to heat gun the back, and gently pop the lid off... sort of like delidding a cpu.

I almost got the Note, went for the S7 instead and I find it can get really hot on quick-charge. Can only imagine the Note 7

it does get hot on my quick qi charger.
The rear is made of glass tho, so i assume things are probably baking on the other side as well due to glass being a poor insulator.

But dang.. love that qi quick charge... i dont need to fiddle with any of the tabs on my supcase, no worries about getting that usb port damaged from torque when you snag a wire, or put it in improperly..

Just need to lay it down and walk away when you see that notification come on saying its charging.

You could try adding a skin to the back. It'll give you some grip and stop any scratches without adding any bulk.

Normally, yeah, but if we're talking part of a recall, Samsung (authorized dealer at their expense) would be doing all this.

They are going the apple route... *sigh*
Infact they started doing this one the S6 and Note 5.
So the S7 and the Note 5 and 7 can not be serviceable at all.

I got a att msg requesting me to bring back my note 7 to the store...

sigh... so i dont know how this is going to work, i am going to have to call AT&T because if they dont have a replacement for me ready, i wont have a cell phone while its getting replaced.

this is why i'd rather have a big battery without QC than a small one where you could use quick charge. You're accelerating electrons and heating up that battery like a mofo and wonder why phones get hot very quickly? Not to mention there are users ignorant enough to stick a big ass thick case, encapsulating the heat from escaping its shell during charging and only aggravate the scorching internal component even faster. No doubt I'm putting 90% of the blame on Samsung for the poor battery (even if it's the battery's vendor fault) but users should be a little more cautious before they slap a thick case around their $800 phone.

its a mess over at samsung.
According to Korean news, they are blaming the Chinese factory that was supposed to handle the battery production. They said they created a faulty battery which wasn't complaint with standards.

I have only been slow charging off my laptop USB port or a normal charging pad. Hopefully it isn't generating enough heat to trigger the battery explosion.

Verizon better hand me a new phone in-store.

Pretty glad and chuffed I skipped the Note 7 and kept my Note 4 for a bit longer now. Hopefully the issue is resolved soon though for anyone affected.

as much as i hate to say it, but i have a feeling its going to be no.
They will probably sell it off as new, and not even refurbished, which by definition it should be.

But samsung will need to recoop the losses from the recall, and i highly doubt they will dump the million or so note 7's as refurbished, especially when they need to tear apart the phone almost entirely to get access to the battery.

Yeah I was reading Samsung will be starting to sell refurbished S7 in NA like they do in other parts of the world.

Between this and the Note recall, it kinda tells me Samsung is pushing the limits of their manufacturing structure.

I ended up returning my Note 7 a day before the battery news came out. My reason was sluggish performance. Wasn't happy with it, I'm now waiting on the Pixel XL, and if that disappoints I'll get a 6P.

I hope it doesn't explode on its way back to T-Mobile...

Ouch, it's stuff like this that's going to kill the used market for Note 7's.

Evidently the Korean sourced batteries are the problem units.

The phones and the packaging can tell you where your battery/phone is sourced.
