nitrus, what company handles your card. I mean, is it VISA, MasterCard, or someone else? If its VISA, and their commercial with Donald Trump in it is to be believed, you are safe from fraudulent purchases on your check card.
 
thats what i was thinking too, it is visa, but the commercial only specifies lost card i think, ill give visa a call. i wasnt listening to much to the comercial, just thought it was cool seeing donald digging in garbage.

Which is what you just made. You agreed to pay, and signed by entering your billing info. What they mean by this detail is that you're not protected when making atm transactions, ect. You're protected.
 
Yeah, thats an interesting twist. I believe it says if its lost or stolen, but I don't know what they'll do if you just get screwed on a purchase. I wouldn't think it would be hard for them to issue a new card and re-imburse you for the amount, but its never safe to assume anything when it comes to money, or anything for that matter I guess.

Let me know what they tell you about it, as I have one myself, but refrain from using it online if possible. The only times I did use it were for a place like Newegg that I knew I could trust.

I used the same visa debit card you did to order mine.. so believe me, i checked the fraud protection out beforehand 😉
 
Well, I took the plunge (used CC of course). I have very little hope at the order actually coming through, but who knows, they might turn out decent guys? If the order does come through that would be an excellent deal. If they cancel the order it's OK too, I knew my chances so I won't whine. 😀 If they raise the price then I'll cancel it. Probably the worst thing that could happen is them sending you a wrong card like GT or even worse NU, in which case I'd have to deal with returning it back to them.

That said I actually wish my CC limit would allow me to order two if these, then I could sell one on ebay and bringing the price of the other one down to $300 😀
 
They're gonna come back to the store today, open up and go !!!!!!!!!!!! 200 CREDIT CARD ORDERS FOR GRAPHICS CARD AHHHHHHHHHHH... Then they'll go to order more of em from gainward, notice they actually cost $499, and all of our orders will be cancelled.

It was still worth a shot though, can't hurt any more than shipping a GT back to them will 😉
 
I would be amazed if they sell these for the $399. Somebody is getting their a$$ handed to them right about now at Compucare.com🙂
 
I'm curious if any of you guys has the time to call this store and verify this deal. I'm at work and I can't (although I'm finding time to post this 😛). I've had luck before with REAL stores honoring prices that have been advertised, at least by complaining to the manager in person.

I say, they at least HAVE to honor their advertisement for the ones that have ordered so far, right? If not, I say we volunteer codyf to go to one of their stores for us! Maybe rough 'em up a bit if they give you a hard time!
 
I work about 10 minutes from one of the B&M stores. I will stop by there on my way home from work....

I called this morning to here there message say they are in seatle and they do not open untill 10AM,I am Central time and it is now 12PM..this should be 10AM west coast time NOW...
 
I called - here's the lowdown according to the rep I spoke with.

First of all - all orders are being cancelled - "HUGE, HUGE price mistake", they say. 🙁
All holds on credit cards are supposed to be released later today and you should get an email saying so.

Now, regarding the BBB report - the guy I spoke with said that "Compucare, Inc" is no longer their company - they were bought out. I asked the guy what the new company's name is and he said, "Ironically, I cannot tell you that."
 
Hi all,

Just called CompuCare at 1:30pm EST. A human answered and immediaely asked me to hold. I"ve been on hold for about 7 mins, then the guy answered. I asked if they had any Gainward video cards in stock. He told me that he just got 30 orders in the last couple hours and that the price is wrong on the site. He also said that nobody will be charged and they will all get an email explaining the screw up and the actual price is closer to $600. He did also say that he's pretty sure they have these in stock in their warehouse (for those of you willing to dish out $600).

although im a little depressed that this deal was not valid, i am a little relieved that they were not scamming up and owned up to their mistake.
 
Mine has also been cancelled. 🙁 Well we all knew it was too good to be true, but in this crazy world you just never know for sure so you've got to try.

At least I never cancelled my MSI 6800GT with Doom 3 bundle deal at Buy.com. But who knows when that will ship.... 🙁
