Yes, it's a problem with a stuck tooltip (GTK+ bug). I have that all the time. Reopen the buddy list, move your mouse a bit, and it disappears. I'm glad there are open source programs, but for god's sake, why can't they just use the native Windows interface? You may think Microsoft is dumb, but they sure know how to make bug-free programs and interfaces that are free of stupid quirks like this (even though their software has exploits). The reason I say bug-free is because ActiveX was by design, and it was a design flaw, not a bug. Before someone flames me to death for saying Microsoft makes bug-free programs, exploits!=bugs. Back on topic though, you wouldn't believe how much I take advantage of the smallest things of Windows's interface that the person trying to replicate it just forgot about. Annoying to say the least. Went on a little rant there...
