lol. When did I anticipate market dive today? I don't typically day trade. I'm an investor, and I invest in the strength of the US economy. Always have and always will.
I don't day trade either. But you obviously watched the DOW futures, you said as much and noted they looked very worrisome. But the market is evidently jubilant with what's happening right now.

Can you define the 'status quo' specifically so we can judge your prediction?

Like pretending that they'll need about a dozen Republicans to pass reforms?

You mean the guy who was a senator while the largest expansion of the welfare state in 50 years was passed?

lol Lots of countries passed universal coverage decades prior, including considerably lower GDP per capita countries.

Hopefully neither of them need a recount or anything.

Yup, was thinking this last night. Over 0.5% lead for Ossoff would be excellent development and it seems more than a little possible. I want this over real quick, won't be happy with a ~Friday recount happening. I'm hoping that within hours it will be declared a done deal essentially. The sooner we get over this the better. A clear path forward will really help. The sooner the better.

Yes, I glance at the futures but since I don't trade it, I don't care. I said I was trolling. I own shares in EV and weed stocks. Too sectors that's killing it today and should do very well under Democrat controlled DC. What makes you think I'm worried about the market or America?

In addition to a referendum on Trump himself, there was also the question of whether the Trumpified GOP can win without Trump himself on the ballot. This *can't* give them warm fuzzies.
The GOP can't control Trump. He's always been, always will be about himself and himself alone. Dangerous to tie yourself to a man who has an explosive vest on. Can't see them hanging all over him from now on.

It’s been pretty great ignoring politics for the last month and catching up to see that Trump has managed to complete this trifecta of failure. I was sure such an achievement would be impossible but I underestimated just how much of a loser Trump is. And I had really really low expectations of him.
He's still a dingy adrift without a rudder. Heading for the waterfall...

Yesterday a commentator on a tv news show said one of the moderate Dems in the senate could switch to the Republican party. But I can't find any articles on the net about it other than the history of it several years past. Anyway even if that happens I wouldn't worry about it because a Repub moderate like one of the women could switch to the Dem party to even it out and bring us back to where it is now. Just my take on it.

I don't see why someone like Manchin would switch. The GOP has no interest in passing legislation, so he'd have nothing to gain. Staying as Democrat lets him put his thumb on the legislative scales in a big way.

The bigger concern is that democrats won’t have the vote in the senate to remove the filibuster as joe Manchin has stated he’ll vote against repealing the filibuster.

How much worse do you need Rs to fuck up to best a tie in the Senate?

It is not that bad.

You see, I for one am looking forward to the new states of:
Washington DC
Puerto Rico
and Pacific Islands

All which will get two senators each.

ps: the odds for two of the above are good. But if it was up to me, I would make every single block of Washington DC its own state, creating thousands of senators. Such a plan is no more f ed up then our constitution already is.

Senator Coons says today in an interview these election results clearly show that people want us to work together and things like Puerto Rico statehood are a stretch. These moderate Dems suck

I dunno what's going to happen in the next few years but Trump going away quietly isn't real high on my list of things likely to occur.
I don't know. Many are saying he can't stay on US soil because SDNY. If he's persona non grata here I have to think his influence all but disappears.
I was promised a stock market crash if Biden was elected and later if the Ds took the Senate.
By who? Yeah, we know, by Donald John Trump.

The main tv news is saying part of the house politicians and others are being evacuated and they have been given gas masks. And that tear gas was deployed by the police in the rotunda because protestors have breached areas of the capitol. Net articles will probably follow in a few minutes or so. The networks have live video of this going on or at least the outside of the capitol buildings.

And even more, tv reporters saying protestors are trying to break down doors to one of the house chambers. Edit: Ah there's a new thread about it on the forum.

Unsurprising results, given that causing the Republicans to lose the rest of the control of government was Trump's ultimate endgame in the first place.
Trump is incapable of having an endgame. He's not that bright. He makes it up as he goes, has no vision of a future much less an endgame.

I wish I was a therapist because a lot of republicans are going to need professional help over the next four years. The only Republican I see as being very content is Melania Trump. Will be interesting to see if Melania stays with this loser or an old man or cashes out in search of greener pastures.
Mary Trump is the happiest Trump today, not Melania. She's still in a pickle.

I see... disappointing. Well, they can pass rules to limit it I think

And it's why their covid responses, particularly vaccine rollouts are superior. Israel envisions getting everyone inoculated by March.

Or they can bribe Joe M. with pork for his filibuster elimination vote, standard operating procedure in D.C. I figure.
