Are disappearing vehicles caused by shimmering? Or is it sight distance option in the game like far cry has? Could be just game settings man.

What spectating would you like me to do? I have posted more than my fair share in the thread with this exact same topic. There is no speculation here either. Nvidia is correcting the error in the Rel. 80 driver, what more do you want?

Use common sense here. Having a personal preference, and outright flaming the other company is completely different.

Not many want me here? Im sure many many times more people want me here than do you. I would stop critiquing me, who has posted multiple threads that have earned stickies, and multiple Guides. When you can post anywhere near the amount of information, or at least learn enough to comment come back and we will talk.

Once again, having a personal preference and blatantly ignoring all the other features of another company are completely different.

3. this G70 has the same flaw like the 6800 series, its even worse. And iam asking myself, why oh why is that. I dont know if u can answer this, but my theory is NV is sacrificing image quality for higher fps so they can be on top of the benchmarks while the kids in this years summer holidays wanted to spend their parents money. I dont believe in the "its so damn new tech, of course it has flaws but next drivers will change that easily theory" (if that happens anyways, then i was wrong and u win the first price). They must have known the problem alot earlier and they did from the 6800 series. 77.77 adds support for the G70 series, but the problem is still there. I mean, its a damn graphic card, and they test it with games befor selling it, didnt they see what the users do see now?

You are exaggerating this effect WAY WAY too much. Are you saying because of a SLIGHT flicker you would buy an X800 over a 7800GTX if they were similiarly priced?? Not only that if on the outside chance they were sacrificing IQ, it would not result in 100% framerate gains. You are purposely causing problems, and just being a complete nusance.

Yes, NV did reduce the IQ on the 7800?s over the 6800. That was one of the major points of the 3Dcenter article. The texture shimmering is worse on the 7800?s in both Q and HQ settings compared to the 6800.

They DID NOT reduce IQ on the 7 series. Flickering, even if it is on the outside chance under rendering or whatever, is not a significantly lower IQ. Especially since it was present on the 6 series which leads me to believe that it is a bug. Additionally why is 3dCenter one of the ONLY sights to see this. How come Anand, Xbit, Guru3d etc (even Tom's) fail to notice any of this. Anand even uses a 9800Pro as default!

Now you are borderline BS. This is NO WHERE NEAR borderline vertical tearing. Have you ever seen Vertical Tearing before. It looks like an encrypted Cable TV channel or VCR Cassette that is in horrible focus. The entire screen is like scrolling vertically, UNREADABLE. It is no where near this caliber. Like i said you have to look for it to see it, and even then, while in some games it is more noticable than others, it is little more than a nusance.

You cant "get used to" shimmering textures. The minute they put that card in they would have noticed.

Like i said you are exaggerating way beyond what this little matter is.

Nvidia is fixing it in the Rel. 80 drivers. Now stop complaining about it, and starting problems over it.

I know shimmering when I see it and do not settle for a card that shimmers. I went through 3 (three) early R300 cards thinking I had bad cards. I finally gave up and bought a Ti4600. Months later, I built another rig and put in that 9700 that had the shimmering, but by then much newer drivers were available from ATI. No more shimmering.

So, I know it when I see it. My 6800GT has superb image quality and has never shimmered in any game I have ever played on it. I am sure of this because I never did any troubleshooting for shimmering, or anything else for that matter. I can't speak for the 7800 series because I don't own one, but I can say it's a safe bet it is driver related. Just have a little patience BlingBlong. Which model 7800 do you have anyway? I want to look into it further. I am in the market myself for one.

The IQ problem never went away, people just accepted it and the complaints died down.

I said IF it was lowered intentionally and not a bug then it was not significantly lower. You have no proof that this is undersampling the image. For all you know (for all i know) it could be a bug.

I am not an Nvidia fan boy. Ill buy whoever has the best card for my needs on the market. I want a 9800Pro so badly when i bought my current card, but (i was younger so not as much $) i could not afford it, and it didn't have VIVO. I dont care who wins the war. I am more comfortable with Nvidia since i haven't used ATI since the very early Radeons (Bad drivers back then) and have had only limited use now. Just because im saying they didn't and providing evidence against your claims automatically makes me a fanboy??

What does AF have anything do do with the shimmering when it is turned off. If it is off then there should be no shimmering if AF is the culprit.

As for texture aliasing, why can you not provide evidence from a site other than 3dCenter. It would seem to me that 3dCenter is the only site so far that is complaining about these "issues". I have just showed you that neither Anandtech, nor X-Bit, nor Guru3d, nor HotHardware, nor Toms even MENTIONED anything about this. Had they even mentioned it i could then maybe see where you are coming from.

Defend no matter the facts. It would seem that only 1 site has the "facts". And it would seem that only a fair few people in here seem to think and preach those "facts".
