Should I drop my OCZ and snag this ram?

Looks like a nice price!

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16820231032

UPDATE: So far, not impressed one bit with these sticks.. Having a hard time booting if my HTT is set @ 300 ( even if the divider has memory speed down @ 185 )

Best I can do now on stock speeds ( keeping my current OC )

is 192mhz (270HTT with the 150 DFI divider)

I have tried 225mhz and 245 mhz as slow as Cas 3/3/3/8 trying to hold 1T and it won't do it on either..

I may send them back all together..

Compared to my Rev 2, they seem like paper weights, the heatspreader on the OCZ is signicantly better..

1GB->2GB, zero difference in performance as of now.. Not much changed in my load times or lag in BF2, i was always smooth as butter.

:D

Recommend some memory!

I bought the same stuff and it won't do 250-260MHz. Does like 2.5-3-2-7 @ 236MHz. Not very impressive for OCing, but cheap and good latencies @ DDR400.

I a running around 237 @ 2/3/3/8 1T on this OCZ now..

I am looking to make the jump to 2GB though as well.

Some people are reporting problems using memory dividers with this memory. Has anyone using this memory notice that problem?

I think I will find out, I just bought it!

I figure I can snag $150 for my OCZ ( which has been awesome for me ) and net the difference!

Yeah looks like all the later sticks of this G.SKILL suck for OCing (relatively). I think I can run mine @ 236MHz CL3, maybe CL2.5. I'm just gonna hold on to them for now rather than try to return them and hassle with NewEgg. I figure I can change HTT and run them as high as 2-3-2-7 can go and be happy; till I find someone to sell them too!

If I could pull 225 @ 2.5 or even 3 I would be happy..

My OCZ sticks are twice the sticks these are :p

They are 512 chips however..

Guys, take a look here specifically at the exact settings from the GSkill rep: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=77205 Then, goto thread #332 and read along. They will show you what the new sticks will do. Pretty impressive test. My sticks act identically to those.

I plugged the exact settings in as the GSkill rep. I am hitting DDR520 @ 2.75v @ 3-3-2-5-1T. See here: http://members.cox.net/mucker/GSkill/OPTFPMW3.jpg and here: http://members.cox.net/mucker/GSkill/OPTFPMW4.jpg

Make sure you enter the above A64 tweaker data exactly and set the Tref to 3684 (100 MHz, 1.95us), drive strength to 7, data drive to 3, Skew Auto 0, and normal response time....

These sticks at DDR520 @ 3-3-2-5-1T on a Venus core 2850 MHz will perform identically to DDR500 @ 2.5-3-3-7-1T on a San Diego core 2750......

I bought the same ram myself when they were $185 and got them today, while I have yet to install them (waiting for mobo/psu) I remember reading that dividers don't work very well with this ram. Even the reviews on newegg talk about the sticks not taking too well to dividers for several users. I saw the link Mucker linked to when I was searching for inormation on this along with this, hopefully I can get close to this when I get to putting together my system.

Good link! Helpful thread..

I am on loop 17 or 24 in SuperPI 32m @ 245mhz 3-3-3-8 1T

I think these sticks do have potential, but they are PICKY as can be..

I am running on the 180 divider right now..

I'll keep everyone posted.. It would be sweet if I could lock these in @ 245..

My Rev. 2 was significantly better memory though :D

Yeah, thanks for the tips, have mine running 240Mhz 3-3-2-5-1T. I am limited on memory dividers or I would have moved up if I could.

BJC-

After the painful experience of letting my Value VX go (237mhz 2-2-2-7 @ 3.1v), I have found that no 2x1GB kit is going to give you the performance of some quality 2x512 sticks. Always gonna get a performance hit, whether it be from looser timings or lower frequency.

I upgraded to 2x1GB because BF2 stuttered when playing with high settings and I couldnt be happier. Stutter free and everything is twice as smooth for me.

If you were smooth with 1GB and cant notice the difference, I would go back to 512mb sticks and enjoy high frequency and tight timings.

But it's up to you mang!

Try tightening it up to 3-3-2-5-1T @ 2.7v. You may be able to set the DRAM Idle timer to 16 (from 256). Trp = 2 will help speed things along.

Try CAS 2.5. It may work just fine with 240 and 2.7v. Mine will do 2.5 at 236 but I haven't tried higher.

Looking good guys! :)

Well Well Well...

No wonder I can't get this memory working well @ most speeds...

192mhz (DDR 384 ) 2/3/3/6

Memtest 86 posted 31 errors..

Time to send this back!

I used that thread and plugged in about every damn possible variation of what they posted (on my DFI Ultra-D too) and could not get it to pass memtest. Does putting these values in A64 tweaker cause it to work?

I've also considered that while may not be memtest stable, it could be stable for my Windows usage? Thoughts?

If it's not memtest stable I wouldn't run it on a daily basis!

Why in the Hell i would spend $212 on this crap memory who cannot even do 250mhz. When i can buy a PQI Turbo PC4000 which can do 260mhz easily for the same price.
