I think for this round, I'll wait for HTC M8. If i'm not happy with their stuff, I'm perfectly fine with sticking with my Nexus 5.

Damn, that's horrible. No idea the OGP was that bad at updates for a 'flagship' phone at the time. The 4.4 update for the G2 is "expected" at the end of March I believe - hopefully they're not abandoning the OGP.

I get occasional update notices from AT&T but it never installs because I have the phone rooted. But I have not heard of any announcement that it will be updated beyond 4.2 so I think it's pretty much done as far as updates are concerned. Aside from the impossible to uninstall and useless Q programs, the phone is absolutely perfect in every other way.

The ogp got no love at all from lg, it will be interesting to see if the 2 does. The good news is there are a handful of stable kk and jb roms for the ogp. I love mine running the latest version of beanstalk 4.4. Its a very svelte phablet, more so than the note3.

If LG had some common sense they would have took the Nexus 4/5, keep stock Android, add removable batteries and SDcard and BAM instant success right there. Otherwise their own lineup is destined for a distant 2nd place in Android.

I liked the OG Pro well enough, but it was no Note. The writing and drawing recognition was terrible and laggy. I sold it a few days ago and bought a Note III.

So happy to have my stylus and active digitzer back.

I went Galaxy S II > Note II > OG Pro > Note III.

The OGP is actually at 4.1.2, not 4.2. I bought it because it was $100 for 32GB (expandable), compared to $300 for the Note 3. I'm hoping they'll come out with a 4.4 update along with the new phones. I upgraded mine to CM 10.2, and then upgraded again, and temporarily bricked it. After some sweating, I was able to get it back to it's factory stock condition by using a hacked version of LGs own factory flashing software. Not fun.

So yeah - the hardware is fantastic, but updates have been lacking. For now, I'm just going to wait until the official updates come out. I prefer LGs UI over generic Android.

Yep, you're right. I just checked. LG really needs to step up their software updates. I mean, realistically speaking, I don't really know what I'm missing with the newer updates but, if you want to run with the big boys, you need to have your house in order.

The next update(already released in Korea for the unlocked model) backports the Knock feature from the G2/G-Flex to the OGP, so they definitely haven't abandoned it, though it's questionable how needed the feature is on a phone with a physical home button on the front. Of course, AT&T will take their usual sweet time allowing the update through, but that's hardly LG's fault.

I don't think LG's in a hurry to go KitKat, not considering there's quite the boatload of apps and games out there that don't work with ART yet. The average user isn't going to know to switch them to a compatibility mode, and if you're not going to use ART, what's the point of KitKat?

LG and AT&T released a new baseband version this week for the LG G2 that is supposedly going to be a "primer" to get phones ready for the 4.4.2 update.
