This comment was made to me, inferring I was lying about my plans for the day.....

You plan on going to the bank today to make a deposit?

Today is a Holiday, banks are closed.

Are people really this stupid? Do not people live near banks that have ATM's? Apparently, I live in a ghetto and cesspool, and even the banks here have ATM's, and even ATM's that print out a copy of the check you've deposited.

So where do these dolts live that have banks with no ATM's?

So happy when my credit union's app to do this finally came out a few months ago...

I bank at a smaller regional back that has ATMs that don't accept deposits. They have great customer service, good policies and I direct deposit my paycheck so I stick with them.

Either way, it's mighty petty to try and catch someone lying about going to the bank, lol.

We're not that advanced here.

However, as most of my customers/clients tend to pay by check, I normally end up posting them to the bank, along with a letter stating the cheque numbers and payers.

This way I've got a record of exactly what was deposited, when.

Takes longer than an ATM for the funds to clear.

Not with USAA :D

I don't have any banking options for cash (unless I want to deal with mailing it in, which I don't), but if I have checks, my money is available immediately.

It can bite you in the ass though - it's all based the assumption that the check will clear. If it does not, they take the money back.

Some banks have ATMs but won't accept anything but a check. Can't deposit cash.

My credit union has an after-hours deposit drop box that serves the same purpose and is always processed the next day so no problem for me.

Besides, between direct deposit and being able to take a picture of the check, I almost never need to physically deposit money.

The people accusing you of this more than likely don't have a bank account so they have no clue. They cash their checks at Walmart.

Down the highway from the place where people think "inferring" and "implying" are synonyms.

I know I can deposit money/checks via an ATM, but I would never do it.

Too risky, and it isn't going to clear any faster than if I go to the bank the next day.

If the banks are closed, how do you get to the ATMs genius? :whiste:

You can use your debit card to buzz yourself into the bank. The section where the ATMs are will be accessible. My new bank actually does not even require this, you just walk in. They close up the area where the desks and stuff are. They also have a drive thru ATM, which is kinda nice, but I actually find it's easier to just go inside.

Don't be naive, what kind of unsecured bank would just allow people to walk in and out of it by buzzing themselves in willy nilly just cause they have a debit card? That's the most ridiculous thing I've read in this entire thread.

so what was their response when you gave them this revelation?

I didn't say he was lying about going to the bank.

He stated he hadn't been out of the house since last Sunday.

I was simply pointing out that today is Presidents Day and the bank is closed.

I didn't know by what he posted he was putting cash into the ATM.

So let's review again.

He stated he was retired.

He stated I am lying about gas prices here in Indiana yet he is in South Carolina.

I have posters nearby me corroborating the gas prices I am paying here.

I also posted an article stating the same thing.

He sides with known anonymous posters that have stated for all to see they are out to get me all the time and trick the management into locking my threads on false pretenses.

He also posted how he has have made a ton of money on land sales etc, and has more money than sense and know what to do with.

And then he comes over to Off Topic to post an FYI you can put cash in an ATM.

Obviously by putting cash into an ATM on a Holiday where it won't do anything that matters until banks are open again tomorrow anyway.

I hope he enjoys his retirement, but it is clear he is already well out of touch with reality.

So what did he gain with all of this?

Very sad.

My old bank required a debit card to buzz in... actually I still have that debit card and that account is still open so I can probably still go inside. My current bank, I just open the door. There's not much you could do, the teller desks and all that are closed off, you can't get to them. There's cameras everywhere.
