It is the same TDP as the Phenom 2 X4, but considering it is on the same process with additional features it doesn't make any sense for it to be the same size. It was reported to be ~346mm^2, compared to 258mm^2 for the Phenom II X4 965.

I stand corrected. I know they did some things to shrink the core and refine the cpu but it gained 25% more die area. They can still knowk down prices enough to stay ahead of intel in the OEM supply market and aftermarket.

but it didn't grow a direct amount extra for the 2 new cores.

From the looks of things, the release dates for AMD's new products will be:

Ontario - Q1 2011
Llano - Q2 2011
Bulldozer - Q3 2011

For BD, we'll see server parts released first, and desktop parts maybe 1 quarter later, which means Q4 2011 :/

So they have to compete against ivy bridge and a doubling in GPU power from intel.. /wrist amd
